Improvised Black Mirror is a new show that will be opening in the fall of 2017 featuring completely improvised performances inspired by the hit Netflix show, Black Mirror. We are not aiming to only parody Black Mirror for comedic effect, but to explore the dramatic and unsettling consequences of technology through improvisation and to emulate the style of the original.
We are looking for experienced actors and improvisors who are fans of BM and are interested in exploring improvisation which is dramatic and grounded, not simply comedic. We aim to challenge you as a performer and craft a quality show.
Like the show that it’s based on, we want Improvised Black Mirror to have a diverse cast with many perspectives. Please share this audition with your friends throughout the Chicago improv and theater community so that we can achieve that goal.
The show will be produced by Gabe Caruso and directed by Kevin Mullaney. Rehearsals will be on Thursday nights and begin in early June. Performers cast in the show must be available on Thursday nights and should expect to spend time outside of rehearsals watching episodes of BM and other related movies and television. The rehearsal schedule for this show will span 3-4 months before the show opens.
Auditions will be held on Thursday, May 11th. If you are interested, please apply using the form below. Or follow this link: Application to Audition for Improvised Black Mirror.
