Where can I donate furniture?

I have a bunch of furniture (2 couches, chair, dresser, coffee table, etc...) that I want to donate, but goodwill doesn't do pick ups. Does anybody know of any organization which I could donate my furniture to and who comes to pick it up? Thank you in advance.

Salvation Army may also (after making you wait a week or more for a pick-up) reject your furniture. I found it rather insulting that they might turn up their noses at my good deedery. Because I was crunched for time, I ended up giving away stuff to needy people via Craigslist, but if I'd had a few extra days I would have tried this place, which sounds much less snooty than the Salvo.

Housing works on 23rd street is semi-snooty as well, but does do pick ups.

There is a shelter on East 11th street that picks up as well, I forget the name, but they will pick up too. (Look up "shelters" or call the Good Old Lower East Side Thrift Shop and they may know the name, I think that's where we found a place to donate our futon).

Great suggestions people, thank you. For those interested in the furniture I no longer live in that apartment, however I am still paying rent for it through the month of January so if you want any of the furniture I am sure I can go over and show you or maybe my roommate who still lives there can show you as well. Thanks again.
