What to do with free time?

#1
So I am still relatively new to the city. I know there are a million things to do and I just don't know where to start. I've wandered the neighborhoods and parks and done the touristy things. So in between job interviews I find myself getting a bit of cabin fever. Any suggestions! I'm trying not to spend money otherwise I am sure more worlds would open up.

Museums!

A bunch of the museums in town are 'pay what you want' and during the day they are not that crowded I could spend months in the Met. Also check out the cloisters and fort tryon park way uptown. Coney Island. Shoot. There are a million things to do for free in this city...

Go to a bookstore and look at the NYC guidebooks for additional ideas. There is one called Frommers NYC Free and Dirt Cheap that I liked so much I actually paid for it! You can borrow it from me if you want...

Have fun.

If you're near Union Square, go to the Strand, a new and used book store which keeps getting bigger. It's one of my favorite places to kill time, and it's a block away from the comic book store Forbidden Planet.

The river2river festival still has 2 weeks left of events. Shakespeare in the Park also has about 2 weeks left. And the San Gennaro festival is approaching. The website of the last link is a surprisingly good website to surf around on for other events.

Personally, I like to take the subway to a random neighborhood and just wander around. If you have a camera, all the better. The people and places around here are fascinating.

And, on Saturday, you should watch the Gators play. If you'd like to go to the Sidebar (it's located right next to Union Square park) this Saturday at 8 pm, you can watch the Gators give Miami a long deserved beating. If you're going this weekend, PM me and I'll send you a gift that will make it cheap.

The Staten Island Ferry is free. It's one of my favorite ways to waste time (especially during good weather on a weekday).
