August is the beginning of the end of summer. In the improv world, the marathon's booze-soaked corpse is being dragged out of the UCB Theater and replaced with air freshener and new cushions.

In real life, we watch as people around us scramble to take hurried vacations to hot spots soon to be rendered unenjoyable by falling leaves and overcast skies.

For many with no paid vacation days, August is set aside for quiet reflection on the summer and the year preceding - it's a month to sit back and wonder what it's all been for - the toil, the laughter, the commute, the meals, the sadness, and even the fleeting joy. Was it worth it? Is anything worth it? Are we all just waiting for the year to end and another to begin? Where can we find something new -- Where are the big ideas?

Where is the originality? What can I see on Friday that has never been seen before?

The People's Improv Theater offers their answer. One more big idea. One show unlike anything before it: A daring assembly of talent, an unabashed presentation of a unique idea -- the blending of two proven elements: the intense experience of dramatic improv-as-art and the inimitable in-touch sexuality endemic in amateur comedians.

Ladies and Gentlemen, I invite you to Foreplay: Erotic Improv at the PIT. Though I have no involvement whatsoever in this show, I am enthused at the opportunity to witness what surely is a memorable milestone in the development of improvisation in this city -- one that is not to be missed.

Fridays in August at 11pm. Check the official thread for more information and please check back here for further musings and updates before and after this compulsory show.

Until then.
