Level 1: Fundamentals of Improv Comedy
DSI will focus on the basics of comedy improvisation: team-building, trust, speed, status, active listening, and agreement. You will learn to be fearless and have fun on stage. NO COMEDY OR THEATER EXPERIENCE NECESSARY.

Level 2: Scenic Improvisation
DSI Level 2 builds on the fundamental skills from Level 1. Begin to develop character in scenes, focus your object work and be more detailed in your environment. Learn to raise the stakes of otherwise ordinary relationships by exploring yourself and the scene. Required: DSI Level 1.
DSI Level 2 Starting Thursday, December 15
Level 3L: Introduction to Harold
Know Harold, the most widely performed improv format. From organic openings to second and third beats, and group games, you will learn the structure that makes Harold the standard for every longform. Be prepared to learn a strict foundation. DSI suggests reading Truth in Comedy prior to taking this class. Level 3L will be limited to 9 students. Your class will perform after six weeks! Required: DSI Level 2 and instructor permission.

Level 3S: ComedySportz Gameplay
Do you like ABC's Whose Line is it Anyway? Build your personal catalog of improv games as DSI covers the formats played on television and improv stages across the country. Use movie, theater and literary styles. Discover ways to make games work for you. Learn over a dozen games and create your own unique comedy show after only six weeks! Required: DSI Level 2 or instructor permission.
DSI Level 3S Starting Monday, January 9.
Sketch Comedy 101
This class will be an active writing workshop for sketch comedy. Although students must have completed DSI Level 2, Scenic Improv, NO WRITING EXPERIENCE IS NECESSARY. You must be able to write sketches outside of the scheduled classtime. Meet for 2 1/2 hours each week for 6 weeks. Students bring a new sketch to each class each week; You will read it, learn how to critique it, and learn how to rewrite it.
