Yes! That place is AMAZING -- the spiciest food ever. It will make you "spice" for up to three days afterwards. An unpleasant experience, but worth it.

Sichuan -- Grand Sichuan on 9th (btwn 24th and 25th). Spicy!

Indian -- Angon on 6th street btwn 2nd and 1st. It's new, it's amazing, they are so nice there you will not know how to react.

Jewish-style Deli -- Katz's. Best pastrami!

Best Burger -- Corner Bistro.

Cuban -- Havana Chelsea. Great and cheap. The cuban sandwich is supposed to be good, but I love their soups and meat over rice and beans. Mmmm, great plantains.

Vietnamese -- Saigon Grill is awesome because it's so cheap and everything is tasty and fresh. But I'm partial to Nha Trang in Chinatown, too.

I don't want to start a pizza or sushi debate, but my favorites in the city are Fascati's in Brooklyn Heights and Hasaki Sushi on 9th Street in the East Village.

Agreed, but for those downtown or coming from Brooklyn, Russ and Daughters on Houston has amazing lox and bagels (and all the trimmings). You can't eat it there, but they'll make you sandwich or you can get stuff a la carte and make brunch somewhere else. Wow it's good.
