Are you a UCB student who’s not on a team or looking for something new? I’m playing matchmaker and putting teams together in a sort of “improv incubator” program. I want to remove the stress and awkwardness of organizing an indie team so performers can just focus on having a good time doing improv.

Thunderbolt Comedy is an effort to create teams of like-minded improvisers who can strive and work and play together. I’ll require teams to practice for at least 2 hours weekly, and I generally recommend regular performances, as well as occasional extra-curricular get-togethers.
The goal is to create a thriving community of confident, committed teams who enjoy performing together.
Auditions will not be competitive, so much as they are evaluative. They will simply be to assess strengths and styles and to see who will work well together, rather than to determine who’s “The Best.” Best for each other is more important to me. Teams will be cast with performers in a similar phase of their training who will likely create a fun dynamic together.
Once created, teams will be invited to an orientation/social/celebration that will lay out the specific details of the program.
What You Get Out of This:
[*]A team based on members’ availability, skill level and goals. This means if I have a bunch of actors with night jobs who just want to get together and have fun working on their improv skills, I’ll put that team together. I’m not necessarily trying to put together the next Lloyd team; I just want to create what will work for that specific group of people.
[*] I won’t assign coaches like in other programs, but I will work with the teams to find a suitable coach that will work for them.
[*] I'll set ground rules. Attendance, dues, etc. I'll remain in contact with the teams and coaches to address any concerns. I'll act as arbitrator if there are any issues. I will intercede if a change needs to be made for the good of the group.
[*] I’ll also assist in booking. Indie shows need teams? I'll have teams for them.
