This is ridiculous: no hotels near Park Slope?

Can it be that there are no respectable yet sub-stratospherically-priced hotels in the vicinity of Park Slope, Brooklyn? Or, indeed, any hotels at all -- and the YMCA doesn't count. Or should I have allotted more than five minutes to research this question on the Internet?

Any of you have suggestions?

There's a Marriott in Brooklyn Heights. That may be as close as it gets. Why do you need a hotel in Park Slope? There are ways to get there from elsewhere in NYC.

I think brooklyn heights is your best bet in brooklyn. My parents stayed in a nice little place over in downtown manhattan when they visited...

I know that there is a B&B on Union Street in Carroll Gardens. No idea what the price range is, but it's worth a look. I think it's actually called the Union Street Bed and Breakfast, or something equally original.

Sigh. Thanks for your suggestions. I guess the 'rents are going to have to stay at my place. (The Brooklyn Heights Marriott is $300 a night!)

Sometimes I feel like NYC is a little third-world, you know? Sure, we have the United Nations and a museum on every other street corner, but there isn't a darn Wal-Mart anywhere in town. And on occasion one would like a Wal-Mart.

I put my folks in a B&B right across from Prospect Park, a few blocks south of Grand Army Plaza. I agree, the situation is lame. It's as if Brooklyn weren't what it is: the equivalent of a city of 2.5 million people.

Yes, I know we have Target and K-Mart (although that just barely -- they almost left town a while ago).

Sometimes you want a Wal-Mart.

Am I a suburb slut?

Fine, I'm a suburb slut.

If you're not picky about location, Priceline! I got my parents a nice enough room in Midtown at a national brand hotel whose name escapes me for about $100/night.

Smiling Pizza's at 7th Ave. and 9th Street. (Unless there's a branch at 4th? Am I being a dumbass?)

I don't know if that part of 4th Ave. is one the 'rents would be comfortable with -- but then again, it might be fine. I can't remember. I'll check it out. Thanks, everyone, for helping me with my quest to avoid actually being within 50 feet of my parents.

Dude!

Bed and Breakfast. Bed AND Breakfast. There are dozens of these in Park Slope. Well maybe not dozens, but surely a dozen.

It's too bad they demolished the house of ill-repute/crack den/bates-esque motel next to the Brooklyn Conservatory of Music on Lincoln Place...

Does anyone know if they still rent hotel rooms at the St. George on Clark Street in Brooklyn Heights? That might be a good compromise.
