Our Fair City - eddie from ohio

Just another weekend.

Friday evening we went to a local carnival. Spent about 10min there. Not a lot going on and we were hungry for something more than carnival food. Went to our favorite little pizza shop.

Saturday we took the kids down to the Towson Town Center mall. Mother in law had a gift certificate for Nordstrom that was used to get B a bra and the kids some clothes. We ate lunch at the Rainforest Cafe. Food was not great but an experience everyone should treat themselves to at least once.

Sunday was B's cousin's birthday so we all went over there. I brought my grill and cooked burgers and dogs for everyone. It was a pretty good time.

Back at work now and trying to catch-up on a few days worth of call entries. Extremely boring shit but its gotta get done. Since I'm off next week I gotta spend the rest of this week training my counterpart so he can muddle through while I'm gone.

Argued with B about my fantasy football league. I joined 2 Yahoo leagues over the weekend but I have my one here at work too. The draft for the work one is Monday evening. I'm off Monday and she thinks I'm crazy for wanting to drive down for the draft. I told her I'd drop out and then she was like "but I know you really want to do it". So it looks like I'll be coming down. She was not even upset about the $7.50 entrance fee, just the fact that I'd be willing to drive 3 hours on my day off for this. Guys will be guys, I missed last year and I don't wanna miss this year.

Then we argues about whether I could buy a new lawn mower. We got our check from the IRS today for the child deduction advancement. I wanted to take part of it and get the lawn mower. She thinks we should wait until next year and just keep borrowing the neighbor's when our yard gets out-of-hand. I'm probably gonna look for a used one at a yard sale to carry us through this year and then get a nice one next spring.

We fell a little behiond on bills so the IRS check is gonna go to catching us up.

Oh well. Got a few new tricks ot try to get my laptop on the Internet at home. Didn't get the router over the weekend. Hope to get that after we go away next week. Unless B checks the bills and we have the $60 I need to get it.

Fun fun fun

Oh yea. Forgot to mention B shaved my head yesterday. I have about an 1/8 of hair. Growing my goatee again. B saw some pics of me with it and wants me to grow it back.

Sorry no updates for the last few days. This one is gonna be short too.
Been crazy here at work. Trying to get everything set-up for the other guys here since I'm on vacation next week. This also means no updates here after Tuesday. Vacation spot has no phones, TVs, or computers. We have electricity for the lights and radios. It is a great place to just get away.

Lots of good people, music, food, and drink. Lots of drinking to be done.

I'll update everyone when I get back.

Vacation here I come. 3 more hours and I'm free for a full week. This is really cool since I didn't think I'd be taking a vacation this year.

2 days of kicking it around the house. 2 days helping B out with the daycare, but I won't be in an office. Then off to the cabin with friends and family until the end of next weekend.

Work has been work. Been busier than usual lately. Mostly because I had to crash train the guy who will try to fill-in for me next week. He should be OK, but I still feel bad for him getting tossed in the fire like this. The plan was for him to get trained anyway but not in such a rushed fashion. Plus he won't have me around to help him when he gets stuck. I've got some help lined up for him though.

I've got to drive down here Monday afternoon for my Fantasy Football draft but that will be the last I see of this place until the following Monday. Just over a month left until football season starts. Got to get everything in order.

The first game for the Ravens is at the Steelers. What a way to start off the season. I love the Ravens and B loves the Steelers. Last game of the season is Ravens at home against the Steelers. Football season is gonna start and end with a bang in our house. Then on to the play-offs where we will probably meet again.

Just kinda floating along today waiting to get out of here. Unless I get a chance in the next few days this will most likely be the last post until I return from the cabin.

Back from vacation. Damn, but it was fun. The 2 days at home flew by as we prepared for the impending trip. Wednesday we struck out around 9:45 on our journey to the mountains.

Spent the rest of the week hanging out at the amusement park and drinking. M got to go on more rides this year and had a blast. B had a great time taking her on the rides. I got to truck G around in his back-pack but had fun listening to him giggle.

Drank a lot of Corona while there. We were out till almost 2am every night hanging around the campfire. We had the usual crowd this year plus a few newcomers. Friday night was music night. B's dad and his friend play classic rock for all of us. They did 2 1-hour sets. They practice year round for this get together. This year I was the opening act and did a little stand-up comedy. B was horrified that I would do it and thought they were just poking fun at me. I had a blast and was asked to open again at our Labor Day get together.

Got back home Sunday around noon and was beat. Unloaded the van and crashed in front of the TV. Then made the mistake of staying up to see the Denis Leary Roast on Comedy Central. Very funny but I'm paying for it today.

Now we are looking forward to this upcoming weekend's camping trip. This time we'll be in a tent instead of a cabin. Another amusement park to let M loose in. This one is geared toward little kids and she'll be able to ride everything.

On the work front I missed one hell of a staff meeting. We had one person walk out and another drop the F-bomb on our manager. Apparently they are pulling one of our guys into another department and backfilling with one of our old managers. One of the guys in my group took a position at another company and last Thursday was his last day. A big loss for our group. We also found out that the room we will be moving into in the other building does not have carpeting and is just big enough for our 9 cubicles.

Well time to get to work. Still gotta call my Mom too.

I found $20 last nite. B handles the checkbook register and I get called in when it doesn't balance. First run through I found where she had substracted 20 instead of 10. Then I found where she had a $10 purchase written in twice. It was nice to find we had $20 more than we thought we did.

B's good at handling the money, just runs into probs sometimes when balancing the checkbook. She gets distracted by the kids and gets confused. I usually can find the mistakes by simply going back over the math.

Enough of that shit. I think I'm gonna make a change in my journal entries starting with the next one. No more updates on my daily life. From reading over it my life is not as boring as I make it sound. Just can't seem to put it into words. So from now on I'm gonna pick a topic or issue that's caught my attention and just riff on that.

Hopefully it will be more fun to write and more interesting to read. Maybe get some people thinking and get a discussion going.

Next time something gets me excited or ticked-off expect an entry.

Ok, here's todays topic:

People Stopping Their Journals

It hurts to see some of these go. Brown-Eyed-Girl is looking ot move to another site. Dano just said he's leaving, possibly only temporary. Chastain was basically driven away by a thoughtless individual. I do not personally know these people but I enjoyed reading what they had to say. Hopefully contact will remain intact in some form or another.

I have not been posting for long and even I have thought about ending it. Right now this is my outlet for frustrations and creative endeavors. I like to write even though I may not be that good. I was at one point and used to compose poetry. I may start back into that with the goal of turning them into song lyrics.

I wish all these people the best and hope life treats them well on the rest of their journey. I also hope that as people leave more wonderful people join to take their place.

I'm going to end this journal and start another. For any regular readers the new Journal will be titled Rant of the Day so you can find it. It will still contain news of my daily life but will be more in-line with what I want the journal to be.
