The Joys of Tech Support

Lists

I was reading Sugar-snit's last posting and it remindedme of something.

I know B and I are not alone on this. We each have the list of people we're allowed to sleep with because the chance will never come up. You know celebrities or athletes, people you normally don't meet.

Well B has a twist in her list. Along with guys like Josh Hartnett she lists Julia Stiles:p and Jessica Biel (the 7th Heaven chick. Lucky me since Julia would definitely be on my list and I could easily make room for Jessica.

She jokes everytime she sees them that they would be her lesbian lover. I always comment that it would be more fun as a 3-some. She counters that she would want them to herself but that I could watch. Still much fun to be had there. She has also said that I'd be allowed in the 3-some if I also agreed to be involved in a 3-some with one of the guys on her list.

I have to admit that if I was ever forced to make the choice I would probably agree just to get the chance to be sandwiched by B and one of those hotties.

 Besides she never said I would have to do anything with the guy.

Much fun all!!

Job perks

I titled this journal the Joys of Tech Support which was a sarcastic jab at my proffession. Well there are some joys that go with it. One of them is that I get to work from home on occassion.

This is where I am today. B called me just before I left work yesterday and said she didn't feel to well. We had some probs at the end of her pregnancy with M and she is getting a little worried with this one. No biggie, she made an appt with her docs fro today. At 1:10pm!! Hard to make it anymore in the middle of the work-day than that. So here I am so I can cover the daycare while she gets checked out.

Believe me I would rather be there with her and she would rather have me there, but such is life and running a business at home. Last nite she started looking into alternative ways of supplementing my income other than the daycare. Delivering the local newspaper is the leading candidate right now. A couple of hours work a day outside the house and she can bring M and the new baby along. It will pay close to what she makes now without the headaches of dealing with other parents.

So we'll see what happens, she's going to call about it today. Let you know later.

Much fun to all, and to all a good day!!!

Metallica Rant

I HATE THE BAND METALLICA

Sorry but I need to rant about this. I love rock music. I like the music Metallica makes. But I cannot stand the band.

They were the leading killer of Napster, they kicked out their bassist Jason Newstead because he wanted to work on a side project (even though the frontman James Hetfield shows up on everyone else's CDs), and they blasted Limp Bizkit in an interview a few years ago.

Now I'm setting my bias as a Limp Bizkit fan aside here and will only state that Limp Bizkit was a Napster supporter.

Metallica will now be going out on tour with Limp Bizkit and Linkin Park. 2 out of those 3 bands I would love to see. Guess which one I wouldn't.

Metallica just wants money. They will do whatever it takes to make more money. I'm all for making money but don't cry about everything being about the music and blast another band and then hook up with them for a tour that will be sure to be a huge money maker.

Another thing. In the interview I heard them blast Limp Bizkit they praised Kid Rock. Not a big surprise since they were about to go on tour with him.

:) Thank you for listening. I feel much better now.

Much fun!

Ugh

Sometimes working from home is a perk. Then your wife runs a daycare in your home and it loses its perkiness.

Kids are driving me nuts today. They are not acting any different than normal, just really bugging me today.

Must be my day to rant/rave.

Oh well, gotta get some work done and chill out a little.

Much fun for now.

Nothing real exciting happening today.

B just called me. Her doctor gave her a prescription and she is moving along pretty well in the pregnancy. She's picking lunch up on the way. Gonna surprise me:) .

Oh well, just felt like putting something on here. Don't know why, don't have much to say.

M is asking for a bowl of cereal so I gotta go.

Much fun to all:p . Keep the hijinx up everyone.

Home again

Home again today. Boss called this morning and told me to work from home cause of the snow.

All the daycare kids are here though. I don't understand other parents. Nobody wants to spend time with their own kids.

Should be an interesting day.

Kids

Kids. How do a group of little kids cause so much rage?
Could it be that they don't listen?
Could it be that while you are paying attention to one another does everything he/she knows they shouldn't?

Don't get me wrong I love kids. I have 1 with another on the way. Wouldn't have it any other way. It's other people's kids. Especially people who don't seem to care about their kids. I say seem because I don't know for sure, just the impression I get from seeing them get dropped off and picked up.

Sometimes it's like watching a bad actor try to seem convincing. Oh well, I'm hoping for a slow Friday so I can enjoy being at home a little.

Much fun to all!!

Work sucks sometimes

I work in support so you would think our people would want us to have every bit of information possible to better support the customer.

Low and behold they like to hide everything they can and let the customer spring it on us. Lovely:loopy: it is I tell you.

First I have to try and avoid looking like a complete ignoramous for not knowing what they are talking about. Then I have to try and figure out how to install it or how it works depending on the situation.

Had that happen today. It all worked out OK:up: but I still can't find any documentation for the software patch.

Much fun:cool: Much fun:p

It was a Good day

Today has turned out pretty good. Other than the dog shitting in the house several times it has gone fairly well.

None of the kids have been horrible and I was able to get some things done for work. Good times.

Looking forward to drinking a few brews tonite and playing some video games. The family life for me.

Nothing special happening this weekend, m-i-l might be coming to visit.

Maybe some sexual adventures.

I'll keep you posted on all the happenings as the weekend progresses.

Just under 2 hours of work left :D !!

Much fun.

I Hate the PA Justice System

I got a ticket 2 weeks ago because my truck's inspection in overdue. No fine amounts on the ticket so I plead guilty and sent it in. Got a notice this weekend stating I owe $104 in fines. I call and ask what's up and they say that the ticket is always left blank and the judge decides on the fine and the notice is sent out.

This sucks. I now have 10 days from Saturday to pay a $104 ticket. The worste is the offense was only a $25 fine but in PA they add a bunch of other charges on so it is $104 total.

The weekend went well. B rented soem video games and I stayed up way to late Friday and Saturday nights playing. Nothing to exciting going on.

Much fun to all!!

Nothing Important

OK,just got caught up on my journal reading.

Little bit of info. My wife does not know about this journal. Its not that I want to keep things hidden from her, quite the opposite. Teh thing is I want to feel free to write whatever I want in here and not have to worry about her reading it. Mostly I want to have a place to myself. Plus I think she may have a problem with our sex life being broadcast:p .

I don't read her journal so she doesn't need to know what I put in mine.

Well we had a sex free weekend. B rented Grand Theft Auto:Vice City and Tekken 4 for the PS2 and I spent way too much time Friday and Saturday night playing. The baby has been beating her up from the inside lately and a few nights without me bugging her were good.

B is usually not agressive on the sexual front so I do most of the initiating. When she does want it she is very agressive though. Last weekend, even being 8mos prego, she climbed on top of me and let me know in no uncertain terms what she wanted.

Ah well, I'll let you know if anything exciting happens.

Much fun!!

Old Habits Die Hard

\I have no willpower when it comes to some things:wishy: . I said last week I was going to stop checking out webcams while at work.

Well guess what I started doing again today?;)

Can't help it. They are fun and provide a distraction. Only prob is some of the girls where little to no clothes (not exactly work condoned web surfing). I'm not even on the "adult" cam sites. This a generic webcam portal site I found http://www.camrecord.com which is really cool, all girls, and it tells you how long ago the last pic was. It also has a cool mini index that shows the 6 cams with the most recent activity.

I would like to set-up my own cam sometime but lack of funds and a decent PC at home are hampering that.

Oh well. Much fun to be had.

AHHHHHHHH

I had a whole post written up about canceling DirecTV, broadband, and being bored at work. I hit the submit button and got a message that the server is too busy and lost it all:( .

Well, I guess I'll try again.

Bored at work, nothing happening today.

B called and wants to cancel with DirecTV. She came to this conclusion after I made a comment over the weekend that M watches too much TV for a 2yo. B decided the easiest way to limit M's TV watching and her own would be to eliminate the D-TV. Works for me and leaves us with about 5 network channels we can get with the rabbit-ears.

The money we save from the D-TV I hope to put towards getting us cable internet access. A broadband connection will make it easier for me to work from home, allow quicker porn downloads:up: , and both B and I will be able to go online at night at the same time.

I'm working the late shift this week which means I have roughly 2-3 hours a day with nothing to do (usually). This means I will probably be posting a lot more often with nothing special to say.:flip:

Eating some beef w/brocolli. Best Chinese dish.

I'll be posting more worthless info later. Until then, Much fun to all.

No More Coffee

Our building has a cleaning crew that comes through while those of us working the late shift are still here. Not a big deal but they clean the kitchen areas and empty the coffee pots.

Today they came through before 6:30, I'm here until 8. I could make more coffee but I don't want to make a full pot for the few cups I might drink before leaving.

Just needed to complain about not being able to get my coffee fix.:exp:

Lame Posts

Damn. I just re-read my posts from yesterday. Sorry about how lame I sound sometimes.

Reminder to self. Don't leave boss message at 7am and end it with "give me a call if you have any questions." He called 2 or 3 times before I left for work at 9. Really no big deal. We had a problem customer we needed to make sure we are in agreement about.

Took care of the kids this morning so B could rest. The oldest of the toddlers has his blanket, stuffed dog, and pacifier that he "can't go without". He likes to sit on the couch with the above mentioned and whine. So today I took his pacifier and got in his face and told him to stop whining. This worked, twice in fact. May have finally found a way to get through to him.

I need to get a mini tape recorder. I think of all kinds of topics to write about while I spend my 4 hours in my truck. Only problem is I forget them as soon as I get out. I need to record them so I can recall them later. Have to see what I can do about that.

Gotta get some work done.

Much fun!!

Caught up

Caught up on all my cases I needed to enter for work. Its the boring part but needs to be done as more departments are starting to use them.

Nothing happening so far. Pretty boring day shaping up again.

We drop the van off at the repair shop tonite. Tomorrow they are supposed to do the work. B is hoping to get it back tomorrow nite. I don't know if I am that optimistic. I expect it will be Thursday but we may get lucky. We really need to get the van back on the road as B has not been able to get out of the house on her own for several weeks now.

Gotta check on prices for replacing our cordless phone batteries. We have 2 cordlesses in the house and both have bad batteries. One is completely dead and the otehr you can talk for about 5 minutes before it dies. I'll let you know how that goes.

Peace out and much fun!!

Busy Afternoon

This morning started out slow but things picked up considerably this afternoon.

Troubleshot a problem with a customer and proved to myself that the problem is not our equipment. Too bad the customer does not see it that way. Will be continuing this tomorrow.

Still working on a problem with another customer that does not look like a problem at all. I'll have to continue this one tomorrow as well.

Got another issue that I started on Friday and let sit. Have to jump on that tomorrow sometime too. Looks like its going to be a busy Wednesday.

Enough work crap.

B has a doctor appointment on Thursday for the pregnancy. She just made an appointment with her regular doctor for right afterwards. She has a bump on her ass that we at first thought was just a pimple starting. Well that was weeks ago and the bump is still there and is starting to get bigger, so she wants to get that checked out. I suggested she get it checked weeks ago. She has also been putting off having some blood work done. She is extremely anemic and the doc wants to check her iron level regularly.

So that has been added to the family calendar. Looks like I'll be fairly late to work on Thursday cause of all this, but the Boss is cool about it.

Maybe some more ramblings later, we'll see:p .

Back Again

Well the van is being worked on as I write this. Hopefully will not be much more than the $500 estimate.

Got a busy day ahead of me at work so I may not be able to write as much today. Got 3 customers to call back and I'm sure more will be calling in.

Not big on Valentine's Day but I always get B something. Her birthday is next week and I like spending more on her B'day gift than V-Day.

Talk to you all soon.

Busy Day

Been a busy day so far.

Van is fixed and B went to get it:up: . Cost $520 total. Not bad, the estimate was $500. So I'm extremely happy about that:D .

Have been steadily working on customer issues all day. That's the good thing. Bad thing is my colleague is training on another product. My understanding was he was to focus on that unless I began to get swamped and then he was to help me catch-up. Well I started falling behind and he just kept on working on his training  . Even the other techs in my group started to notice.

I believe he is taking advantage of the "sitchy-ation".:tsk:

What are ya gonna do?:p

Maybe tomorrow will be easier. Should be since I'm coming in late and no kids in the morning.

Got much to do tonite. Hamster cage to clean, dishes to do, laundry to do. Gotta do laundry, I'm wearing my last pair of boxers. May be going commando tomorrow if I don't get any done.
I'll be sure to let you know if that is the case.
