My magazine, ToyFare, is looking for an intern. It is up in Rockland County, but it's a fun place to work (We also put out Wizard: the comics magazine, so there's a huge comics library to read.) and you'll get to write some funny clips and work on a magazine that puts out one of the best-selling humor strips out there: Twisted ToyFare Theatre. (We had #45 and #96 of the 100 best selling trade paperbacks last year. I'm pretty sure that would've been higher but we put out volume 6 at the end of the year.)

Anyway, here's the info. This is the only place we're posting it at the moment, so you guys have a big leg up.

Let me know if you have any questions. You can email me at dasgoot@wizarduniverse.com. -Jon Gutierrez

ToyFare Magazine (www.toyfare.com) is seeking an Editorial Intern to write content, brainstorm ideas, organize our Toy Library, conduct interviews, research stories, and perform various administrative and general peon duties.

ToyFare Magazine is located in Congers, NY, 45 minutes northwest of New York City.

This internship is unpaid, but we do provide a small stipend for lunch and mileage. The position is for a six-month internship, and interns can qualify for school credit if applicable.

You will have to find your own housing in Rockland County or you will have to commute from the surrounding area.

Interested parties should send a cover letter, resume, and published clips or appropriate writing samples to ToyFare Internship, ATTN: Adam Tracey, ToyFare Magazine, 151 Wells Avenue, Congers, NY 10920. If you’d like to email your information, please send it to toyfareinternship@wizarduniverse.com (please send all documents as Word attachments and/or PDFs).

Who can make news-y infographics?

The place where I work will shortly need to hire a designer to make a passel of infographics for a site on global warming we're launching.

Diagrams explaining science concepts, along with pretty charts and graphs. They'll need to look great, and fit in with the overall design of the site (that another designer is working on).

Does anyone here do this? Or know someone who does? I'd need to see some examples of their work.

Shemale me at pmason [ a .t} environmentaldefense.org if you can help....

A friend of mine works at the Brooklyn Cyclones and they are looking for people to be the "Mascot" and "Beach Bum" this summer. There is pay per game, but I don't know what it is. Here are the details. My friend is not the one you'll be contacting, so mentioning my name will accomplish nothing.

Here is the posting:

January 18, 2006 - Do you want to be a "Beach Bum" or Mascot this summer -- part of the energetic team that leads Cyclones fans in cheers and fun?

If you are an aspiring actor, dancer, entertainer...or just want to have a unique experience this summer, the Cyclones are now accepting resumes, tapes, and applications to be a member of the "Beach Bum" squad or a Mascot.
If you think you have what it takes, feel free to contact Robert Field at 718-449-8497, or send resumes, head shots, or any other information to rob@brooklyncyclones.com.

Maybe we'll see you dancing on the dugouts this summer!

Last week I started working at a restaurant in Carroll Gardens. The place is called The Rosemary Room, and is brand new. I am currently the only server there, but as the restaurant picks up, we will need more help. Starting Monday, we will begin excepting apllications for a part timer. I am the man doing the hiring, so I would Love to see the position go to a person in the Improv community. The address is 250 Smith Street Brooklyn, NY 11231
their phone number is 718.797.2939... my cell is 401.864.1579.
Hint: Have availability on Monday and Tuesday nights and you're practically hired.

It's pretty nice. Honestly, the chef is on top of his game. He really knows what he's doing. We are just slow right now. We do catering events as well... with a bigger menu.

Do you live in or around Park Slope? Do you have any free time during the day and would like to make some extra $$$. If not, do you know of someone who does?

I just recently moved to Park Slope, and hauling my dog to Manhattan on the subway is getting old....for both of us.

If interested, please email. Thanks

Slate.com Jr. designer

Hey web/graphic designers...

We've got an open position here @ Slate Magazine: Jr. Designer.

You'd be responsible for image production (finding and prepping photos for articles, primarily) and placing said images on the site. You'd also help make slide shows and coordinate illustration requests with our freelance artists.

You: have kick ass Photoshop and design knowledge, know some basic stuff about web production, and have great (this is pretty important) communication skills.

I cannot stress enough how cool this place is. You get to sit in on editor meetings, suggest story ideas, and work in a non-traditional office environment (1000am-630pm).

PM me if you're interested. Thanks!

Animator/Cartoonist for Documentary

I am putting the finishing touches on a documentary about a punk rock musician/artist from Appalachia who died of stomach cancer at the age of 20. I need a comic book style animator to bring life to some of his drawings and do drawings of real people featured in the film. See the below samples for an idea of the style.

The film is being submitted to multiple festivals around the country, and has already been accepted to one. The budget is really low at this point, I could barter or give some token $$$. If you are interested, PM me for more info. Thanks!

help?

I work at a clothing store with 2 locations in midtown. Both shops are having a private shopping event on Tuesday (tomorrow) and we need a few extra people to help out. It's easy work - taking names at the door or looking for stuff in the stock room. We pay $10/hour in cash, and everyone here is really nice. The thing starts at 5pm, and you should be done by 9 or 9:30.

PM me through these boards if you're interested!

Thanks,
Cat
