Lovable Asshole
2 LAMP web developers needed - IMMEDIATELY

My company, UltraStar (http://ultrastar.com), is in need of two developers for short-term (approximately six weeks), full-time (40 hours/week) engagement.

UltraStar is a web community development company, co-founded by David Bowie in 1998, that caters to marquee entertainment brands. Our clients include: AC/DC, Sting, The Police, David Bowie, Mariah Carey, Mick Jagger, The Rolling Stones, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Genesis, INXS, Counting Crows, and others.

We're preparing to roll out an enhanced version of our members community section and need a senior developer to assist with development of new features and a junior developer to assist with daily development requests for our other properties.

Assistant Senior Product Engineer
Responsibilities include: Assisting the Director of Product Development and the Senior Product Engineer with development of new features for the community section of our core product. Development will focus primarily on front-end enhancement and feature development.

Assistant Junior Product Engineer
Responsibilities include: Assisting the Junior Product Engineer with daily maintenance of our existing properties - development requests, bug fixes, minor upgrades, etc.

Skills required for both positions include:
  • XML/XSLT*
  • HTML
  • CSS
  • Javascript
  • Linux/Apache/PHP/MySQL (LAMP)
  • AJAX

* Frankly, most developers I know don't have too much (if any) experience with XSLT. Don't despair. I learned about 80% of what I needed to know in a few hours. The rest I learned on the fly.

Candidates should be comfortable using Subversion (CVS) and SSH.

Bonus points for familiarity with Google and Flickr APIs, jQuery, Thickbox/Lightbox.

These positions do not provide benefits, but UltraStar does provide a fun and (typically) relaxed working environment, and free beer.

UltraStar is located in the DUMBO neighborhood of Brooklyn.

Interested? PM me.

Thanks,
furf

Looking for 2 Comedians for International Job

TRAVEL THE WORLD ON CAMERA

What it is: A series of comic videos highlighting the antics and hijinx of two guys as they travel the world checking out sexual mores, predilections, beautiful women, and…condoms. Sweet! This is based purely in the conversational/comedic arts and there is absolutely NO nudity or active sexual content in this project.

When is it: Immediately. We’re leaving right after Thanksgiving and trip should last approximately 20 days.

Where is it: Five cities/regions around the world. Very much still under development, but one sample itinerary is Amsterdam, Istanbul, Johannesburg, Bombay, and Bangkok.

What to expect: A great adventure and meeting a lot of new people. You’ll mostly stay in hostels and travel both by plane and train. There won’t necessarily be a set filming plan for each location – it’s all about being resourceful, open, spontaneous and hungry to make something funny as hell.

Who you are: You are a lot of things. You are in your mid-twenties. You’re funny, fearless, able to make friends, spontaneous, intuitive, aware of your surroundings, great on camera, a strong writer, willing to wear many hats (you will be given a camera yourself), fascinated with international cultures, quick on your feet, responsible, able to listen, and an experienced traveler. Also, you’re basically a good-looking guy.

Who we are: We’re Catman & Mary, an Emmy award-winning production company with a focus on broadband comedy. Check out www.catmanandmary.com/sa to see the comedy show we produced for Subway.

Who the Client is: A major condom brand. It’s for a website. They will own all the footage – but you will be given clips to put on your reel.

What We’ll Create: A video per city minimum. This may include both an urban perspective and a more rural perspective in each culture. Also, you’ll write about the experience for the site blog.

How Casting Works:
1. You send us a kickass introductory email and digital picture: comedytravel@gmail.com.
2. If we like your letter, we contact you to create a short video that highlights your talents. You’ll have less than a week and must be prepared to do this yourself. We won’t be sending a crew to give you a screen test – it’s all you, baby!
3. If we like your video, we all meet.
4. DO NOT COME IN PERSON.

Compensation: $1000. We’ll also pay for a 20-day around-the-world trip for you, including all room, board, and a $30/day per diem. Plus a great profile on this well-trafficked website and superb footage for your reel.

Another Point: This is going to be amazing, and it’s going to be hard work. You have to love the idea of this kind of travel and working fast despite your own culture shock.

Questions? Write us at COMEDYTRAVEL@GMAIL.COM.

INTRODUCTORY EMAILS AND DIGITAL PHOTO
DUE BY 5PM ON THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 8 at

I need to hire a few people by the end of this month for a temporary (3 month) full-time (35 hours per week) project. It's an editing/proofreading job. It wouldn't be the most stimulating job you've ever had, but the pay is okay, it's relatively stress-free, the schedule can be somewhat flexible, you'd be working directly for me and I'm a very hands-off boss (as long as the work is getting done I don't care what websites you're visiting, when you're going to lunch, or things like that), and it's only 3 months long so you're not tied into anything.

[position has been filled. thanks.]
