People of IRC:
Here is a possible odd jobby job for those that are looking for something to occupy their time.

The gig:
Teaching the SAT(or GMAT/LSAT/GRE etc.) for Kaplan. Looking primarily for people to teach classes in Westchester and the Bronx, but also all over NJ and Manhattan. Pay is usually $20/hr for the actual teaching part. More when you get good teaching evaluations. They have auditions and training on a regular basis and they love actors!

The only requirement is that people score in the 90th percentile or better on the test. Also, no sexual offenders because there is a sexual offenders background check. Did I lose a signifanct amount of you now? Damn. Another gig is proctoring tests in the Bronx. This doesn't pay as well, but it's essentially getting paid to read a book for a few hours. So it's easy peasey!

Pretty irresistible right? If you think so, contact Kathrine Mott,

Tell her Nate sent ya.

Toy & Humor Magazine Intern

Don't know if anyone'd be up for this, but my magazine, ToyFare, needs an intern. Your work would be maintaining our toy library and writing humor sidebars and text for the magazine.

It's technically an unpaid position, but we do give you a $50 a day stipend for lunch and travel, you'll get great clips in a nationally distributed magazine and it's an incredibly fun work environment. (Plus, it's the best way to work towards getting a permanent job at any of our magazines. Our other ones are: Inquest, Anime Insider and Wizard.)

However, it's located up in Rockland County, so you'd have to be able to get up to Congers every day.

You can email your resume and clips (if you have them) to me at: dasgoot@wizarduniverse.com.

Thanks,

Jon Gutierrez

Photoshoot - PAID - Need a Few Young Looking Guys

Want to make easy money with your youthful good looks? Be able to tell other good looking people that you were on a book cover? I have two upcoming photoshoots for book covers I'm doing that I need models for. The books are teen novels, so you must look teen-aged but needn't necessarily be a teenager.

The God Box - you don't have to be gay, but you must be comfortable being on a young adult book by an award winning author with gay themes:

Manuel - Latino, wavy longish hair, cute
Paul - Latino, clean cut, short hair, cute

Beauty and the Bully:

Max - Dark haired, cute, dweeby, hipster-y rock and roll kid. No facial hair or a willingness to be clean shaven.
Tony - Teenaged bully. Imposing. Flexible on body type as long as it seems like he could kick some ass. No facial hair (or a willingness to shave it).

Both shoots will be totally professional and shot in a studio at 21st street within the next two weeks, and both will pay pretty well (minimum $75 and probably no more than a hour or so of work).

If you know anyone who would be interested, please have them email me at bookjacketshoot@gmail.com with a personal photo or headshot, or a link to a myspace page.

Thanks in advance!

Data Entry At Educational Publishing Company

My cousin is a Managing Editor in the educational division at Scholastic. She needs 2 people immediately for about three weeks of fulltime work. The pay is good and she says it's a great environment. There is also a lot of freelance work there, so it's an opportunity to get your foot in the door if you're interested in the field.

She says the applicant must be "extremely detail-oriented, almost obsessive." Yikes. :)

If you know me, mention that to her.
