Tournament details:
1. Sixteen teams will be randomly selected from the pool of applicants to perform. There is NO FEE to apply. However, if selected, a registration fee of $25 per team must be paid via Paypal by 15-Apr in order to perform. The submission form must be downloaded at www.meetthegarys.com and emailed to meetthegarys@gmail.com with the SUBJECT: Garathon Tournament Submission. Tournament fees are non-refundable and non-returnable.
2. The days on which each team will perform (in each of the four preliminary rounds) will also be selected at random. Conflicts will be considered on a case-by-case basis.
3. The order in which teams perform in all rounds will be selected at random.
4. Each team will have 18 minutes to perform any variation of improvisation they choose. At 18 minutes, the team on stage will be “blacked out” by the tech booth.
5. The audience vote will decide the outcome of all four preliminary rounds. Teams receiving the most number of audience votes in each preliminary round will advance to the finals while teams receiving the second most number of audience votes will advance to the semi-finals. Eight of the sixteen teams selected will perform at least twice in three weeks!!
6. A combination of the audience vote and two guest judges will determine the outcome of the semi-final and the final rounds. Performers will not vote during their own show.
7. $100 cash will be awarded to the winner of the semi-finalist division and $400 cash will be awarded to the winner of the finalist division.
8. Each paying audience member will have the power to vote once in each round. Ticket prices are $6 per show or $10 per night ($10 tickets are valid for two shows on the same night only). Tickets can be purchased at Brown Paper Tickets online (details to follow) or at the door (cash only) on the night of the show.
