The Apartment Thread (October 2007)

Hey all-I still haven't found a roommate, but my landlady DID lower the rent, so that's a thing. So pass this along.

I'm looking for someone for April 1st. $675/month

I live in Astoria, by the park. The N/W is the subway line-Ditmars or Astoria Blvd. are the stops (kind of between to two.)

I live in a nice big apartment with two bedrooms and an office, living room, good-sized kitchen, bathroom. The bedroom that's opening up is 11 ft. by 12 ft. with lots of light. Water and heat is included, Con Ed, Cable/Internet we split. I'm looking for a female roommate, clean, non-smoker, no pets.

Let me know if you or someone you know fits that description and you're looking.

Thanks,
Mary Regan

Room Available April 1st in Brooklyn Loft:

A few of my roommates are moving out of the loft I share with 8 people (yup, eight people). I would love to find someone I know and trust to come share our space.

DETAILS:
9 people live here - everyone is around 30 or older - artistically inclined mostly video/phtographer types. Most nights people are asleep (or hanging in their rooms) by 11pm but here and there we all eat together, play darts, or have dinner parties.

Loft: Located in Park Slope/Gowanus btwn. 3rd and 4th Aves. 5,000 square foot loft with freight elevator. 9 bedrooms and huge common space, 2 bathrooms. Located near the R train at Union Street (5 blocks) or the B, D, Q, R, N, W, 2, 3, 4, 5 at Atlantic-Pacific (7 blocks).

There are two rooms available, varying in size, but both quite spacious, available in April (everyone has a bed, desk, couch, coffee table etc. in their room). Rent is $926 which includes internet, garbage, and the water bill. Utilities (electric and gas) are separate. If you want cable in your room (there is no communal tv) it is extra.

Move in, 1st month's rent, plus 1 month security. You are not on a lease, and only have to give 30 days notice to move out, although we would prefer someone who is interested in being somewhat involved in the loft and sticking around for a while (that said, if you have a shorter term situation and are interested please let us know).

I have lived here for a year and a half and love it. It is not a living situation for everyone, but for the right person it can be awesome.
Feel free to email or pm me if interested and I can give you more details. I can be reached via PM on this board or at rachaelmason at the google mail.

Prospect Park and The Brooklyn Botanical Gardens are literally just 50 yards from the building. One stop to Park Slope, Grand Army Plaza, and The Brooklyn Public Library. One block to Western Beef grocery store. There is also a farmers market every Saturday in Grand Army Plaza, which is an 8 minute walk from the apartment. Brooklyn rocks! SEEKING: ROOMMATE

Got a cushy 1-br you can no longer afford???

GOOD NEWS!!
Our lovely roommate Brian is moving out, and so, we are forced to find a new roommate to take over his portion of the lease. Here’s what we got:
  • Our apartment is on a quiet street on the UWS (89th near Amsterdam, to be exact). It’s close to the B,C, 1, 2, & 3 trains, plus lots of busses.
  • The building is a well-maintained pre-war co-op, with a live-in super on premises.
  • The room in question is 1 Bedroom in a 3-bedroom / 1 bathroom apartment. The room itself will be unfurnished, but can easily fit a double bed, small dresser, desk, and nightstand. The closet appears to be small, but remarkably, holds a lot of clothes. The room is currently painted off-white, but you can paint it any color you choose!
  • The rest of our apartment is great… it's on the first floor, there is a big living room and kitchen (with a dishwasher!), hardwood floors, nice light and high ceilings. Everything else is furnished and pretty.
  • Currently, the room is renting for $950/mo. This includes water and heat. We all chip in for the Con-Ed bill, which is about $20 / mo. To move in, we will need 1st and last month’s rent, plus a security deposit repayment to Brian. So to move in: $1780 to Bri (which covers security and last), and $950 for April rent.
  • There is no laundry in the building, but there is a Laundromat on the corner of 89th and Amsterdam. Also nearby are several grocery stores and a 24-hour CVS (hey!). We love Ceevs ‘round these parts.

Here’s what we’re looking for:
  • A smart, cool girl (sorry, boys) with her head on her shoulders, but not so much that you’re too cool for themed-punches at our occasional house parties.
  • We are pretty busy, but would love a roomie who wants to hang out with us if/when we are home… we like to make a meal together, drink, plan parties and maybe watch trashy reality TV.
  • We would prefer someone in the 24-34 age range but are open to meeting whoev.
  • No smoking, no pets.

If you’re interested, drop Brian (brian@oh-hey.com) Melissa (melissadowty@yahoo.com) or Lexa (lexa.hillyer@gmail.com) a line. We can totes fill you in on more details about ourselves, and answer any other questions you may have!

We have one room available in a 3 bedroom apartment. The apartment has a huge living room, cable and internet is hooked up and there's also a little patio.
You'd live with a graphic designer and a comedian (and an adorable cat). We're both very easy going people and had just about enough drama for the rest of our lives, so drama queens, this room is not for you.
Utilities (electricity/internet/cable) come out to about $50-$70 a month.
Rent is $600 a month + $600 deposit.
Ideal roommate would be someone who would interact with us sometimes, as opposed to being a ghost, and of course, someone who can pay the rent on time.
Just message me if you're interested. We would need someone by April 1st.:)

Hi everyone,

Please do forward this around if it makes sense.
I just found out that I'll be a student in the fall and not returning
to work - so I want to start paying lower rent asap. Ideally a
Williamsburg or downtown Manhattan spot for less than 800 a month.

Here's my place:
1175/month in the Lower East Side
I really really really love it and hate to leave it!
http://newyork.craigslist.org/mnh/roo/1090886151.html

Also, Adam is looking for someone for his place (it's soo amazing!)
880/month, there's a backyard and roof, plus elevator and laundry in Building
at South 2nd and Bedford in Williamsburg

Thanks for your help!
