The Apartment Thread (October 2007)

$350/month. Seriously.

The small bedroom in our four-bedroom apartment has opened up. It's $350/month.

We're three guys who do improv. We have our own washer/dryer. Wireless internet and cable TV, with utilities split four ways. Two floors (you and Andrew on the 1st floor, me and Nick in the basement), two living rooms, 1.5 bathrooms. Plenty of storage space. Half a block from Sunset Park (the lovely park that gives our Brooklyn neighborhood its name). 5 minute walk to the D train, 10 to the N/R. Brooklyn Chinatown one block away; authentic tacos three blocks in the other direction.

Here we are on Google Maps
.

Q: Why is it so cheap? What's wrong with it???

A: It's just an inexpensive apartment. The rest of us pay $400/month, because our rooms are bigger. It's a small room, and there's a small water stain on the ceiling, and our apartment has kind of a "bachelor pad" (i.e. slightly sketchy) feel, but otherwise it's an incredible deal.

Oh, did I mention? THREE HUNDRED AND FIFTY DOLLARS A MONTH.

We're looking for someone for March, but early move-in could be arranged. First and last months' rent.

E-mail me with questions and/or interest: morganphillips(at)gmail(dot)com.

How many people have to move out before you consider that maybe it isn't the economy?

Just wash it. For serious.

Hey IRC,

I'm looking for a place starting whenever in March, at the latest April 1st.

I'm willing to pay up to 750, but would prefer less. Anything not too far in Brooklyn and Queens is fine with me. I'll live with both male and female people.

As for me, I'm a 22 year old male, taken classes at UCB and just graduated college.

I'd like to find a place through August, but wouldn't be opposed to something shorter.

contact me at preciousroyaf (at) gmail (dot) com

Thanksss

-Andrew

the 2nd bedroom in my beautiful east harlem palace is available immediately for an awesome person looking for an incredibly convenient and beautiful apartment. the room itself is a great size; sunny, big window overlooking a secluded patio area, huge closet, high ceilings, hardwood floors. room is a good size for a full size bed and an assortment of furniture. i have an very nice air mattress with electric pump we can put in there if you are looking for a semi-furnished place. the whole apartment is lovely. the area is great as well, extremely close to the east side 6 and west side 2/3 trains. the room is available now; i'll prorate the rent for the rest of feb if you want in now. lease is through april.

Hello IRC,

I am looking for a roommate starting May 1st or a little earlier. I'm moving out of my current place, so we'll need to look for a place together (unless you have an apartment with an extra room). I can pay up to I guess $850 a month and would like to live in Williamsburg or someplace close to the city.

I love improv and have a full-time job, so I'm not home much, and when I am I'm pretty quiet. I was about to start listing my interests but it felt to much like a personals ad. I mostly just want my roommate to be sane and if you're fun and have a good DVD collection, all the better.

If you're interested please email me at nataliehshort at gmail dotcom. Thanks!

My lease is up in may, and I think given market conditions i can find something bigger.

I'm looking for something in grammercy, flatiron or chelsea ideally, or the west village. I'm looking at buying or renting a better place than I currently have, but if someone had a share that was amazing and they were and improviser, I would love to do that.

I have a budget of about 1400-1700 a month, plus utilities.

About me: I'm 23, a screenwriter and TV writer about to finish my degree. Improv took over my life and now I'm obsessed and know most of the people on this list.

I'm cool and totally open minded. I don't do drugs, although I have been known to enjoy a nice dry martini. I don't listen to loud music but I do sing in the shower. I have a lot of books and DVD's which you are welcome to borrow. I travel sometimes and never have sleepover guests, unless I am dating them, which is the nicest way I could say that.

I don't cook but I appreciate good food.

I share an office with my dad for my writing, but I am a writer and do work mostly from my apartment, so I'm around a lot during the day.

This is IRC and I get around socially to all three theaters, so I assume most of you have met me.

If anyone has something amazing, please let me know. Just thought I'd put out a feeler.

Hey! I am posting this for my friend Jen who is an amazingly cool, collected visual artist in hear early 30's. E-mail me at Louie4711 at gmail if interested:

"Hey everyone,

My awesome roommate, Alejandro, needs to move back to Mexico because
he's the last romantic guy in the universe and is trying to save his
relationship with his fiance. We JUST moved in here last weekend...a
totally amazing find in the Park Slope area...and I'm sad because he
is leaving but now we have to find someone equally as awesome to sign
a 1-year lease with me. SO...I'm calling on my friends to keep their
eyes and ears open for someone who might be a good match. Pass this
on.

It's a 2 BR apartment with nice, open spaces in the living room,
kitchen and bathroom...I'm not kidding...the room sizes are really
rare for the amount of money, and I know this because I just spent the
month of February apartment hunting. Both bedrooms have
window/natural light coming in and the kitchen also has a lot of
natural light. The rent is split $800 each plus cost of
electric/gas/wireless internet which should run approximately about
$50 total. The apartment is about 1/2 block from the R train on 4th
Avenue. Park Slope is an up and coming area - good bars, restaurants,
shops, movie theatre, Prospect Park are all in walking distance.

You all know me, but if your person (Person X) needs more info, I can
provide that AS WELL as photos of this place.

If you know of anyone who would be interested in this opportunity,
please let me know ASAP. Move in date might be mid March or April
1...I still have to figure out what Alejandro's plan is."
