Hey guys,
As I may have mentioned to one or two of you, I've recently become the Artistic Director of the Chicago Improv Festival Teen Fest (which becomes its own independent festival this year).
The festival dates are January 26th and 27th-- with local groups performing on the 26th and out-of-town groups performing on the 27th.
Participation fee is $50 per student if they register "early bird" (before December). After that it jumps to $75/student, although I have the power to wrangle discounts if necessary. Participation fee includes not only their performance at the festival, but each participant will take 3 workshop classes during the day with big names in Chicago improv (no bullshit, either-- we've got the connections to get some awesome teachers). Workshops are a character class, and ensemble class, and an elective (electives range from dance improv to freestyle rap and other delightful and awsome things).
Groups are responsible for arranging their own travel and lodging.
If any of you know of improv groups (or theater clubs that do improv) at your or nearby schools that might be interested, and you could give me a heads-up, that would be awesome. Especially if you can connect me to the group or club advisor. Even if the timing isn't right for them to come this year, we already have dates booked for the 2008 festival as well.
