Taxes

I ended up owing exactly the same amount to CA as to the Feds.

I have never owed both before, and certainly not the exact same amount.

Anyone know anything about this?

Some weird conincidence or is this how the Governator is going to dig us out of the hole? Whatever you pay the feds you pay Cali...

Well, as usual LA Forum, thanks for all your input.
I will double post in my own thread and say that if Poizner does what he says he will do in his ads, SLASH taxes by 10%, it'll actually be a rollback. Our taxes were just increased by 10% this year.
Just a friendly reminder.

Yes, so I've learned.
As I've said many times; I don't mind paying more in taxes if it pays for a new thing. Healthcare, for instance. If I paid more in taxes, and therefore the $49 that comes out of every paycheck for my health insurance went away, but I was still 100% covered...I'd consider that a fair exchange. More than fair actually.

I am not willing to have my taxes raised to pay off 8 years of mismanagement or just to maintain the broken status quo, however.

What I did find out though, was for some reason my exemptions were wrong on my...thingy. They had me down for TWO instead of ONE. That would explain why, since I started here, I've had to PAY, and never had before.
Thinking that may have a bit to do with CA taxes as well.

(I'd like to point out that Fred actually came into the L.A. Forum, and participated in this thread. You make baby Jesus cry, L.A. Forum...)

Did I characterize you as a "lurker"?
I was pointing out to the non-existent L.A. community that someone NOT from L.A. has to come into this forum to keep a thread going.
Kudos to you!

And thanks for being interested in seeing what I have to say.

:D
