Love 'em all. You should also check out Windsor Terrace - funky '70s Brooklyn feel, slightly lower rents and bigger apts. We're on the border of South Slope and WT and we're so happy there. Truly great hood.

I grew up in Riverdale and Windsor Terrace reminds me of the late 70's/early 80's. It's a neighborhood full of character (and characters).

oh snap- i looked on dean street but didnt see that one- phew! ok so windsor terrace starts where? i walked from bergen all the way through park slope to like 18th street by the BQE (?) it was suddenly less charming right there. does it get charming again? this is SUPER helpful you guys- i cant wait to be your neighbor <3!

Windsor starts at Prospect Park Southwest and Bartel Pritchard Square (even though it's a circle). It's right on the border of Park Slope on the south end of the park. Subway stop is 15th St on the F. We had a great realtor at Heights-Berkely, but I'm a jerk and can't remember his name...Dan maybe?

We looked on our own forever and then went with a broker and were so happy to do it once he found us this place. Whatever you do, don't use this guy NEVO on craigslist - he's a scam artist.

Was it Mike?

I think it was Mike.

Bald, glasses, tattoo of sheet music on his arm (he drums, too).

You should totes move to WinTer (only I call Windsor Terrace by this nickname now, but I hope it will catch on some day).

Love Brooklyn.

Have lived in Carroll Gardens/Cobble Hill and now Brooklyn Heights.

I prefer living in Brooklyn than any other borough!

Peter McGuire at Smith Hanten realty on Smith Street in Cobble Hill is a real good guy. Didn't end up renting from him but he was very cool, honest, and helpful. (This was a few years ago, don't know if he's still there)

I miss Cobble Hill like crazy, if that's any help. I love the people I've met in Astoria, but as far as place Brooklyn is much better. I always thought of CH, Brooklyn Heights, Carroll Gardens as one neighborhood. South Slope I'm not too familiar with but I get the sense that it's increasingly become more like the rest of Park Slope.

Brooklyn's great. Move there.

This has been so helpful everyone- thanks! I lived in park slope years ago and have a love/hate relationship with it. Now I'm leaning towards north slope or prospect heights- & I would love love love cobble hill but there doesn't seem to be much available- what about boerum hill? It's sort of lacking the small town charm but man is it convenient.

Boerum Hill is fine. I live in the Gowanus which is also close by, and while it's less charming and more industrial it's close to everything and has bargains. Windsor Terrace is nice. Prospect Heights is nice, just make sure you are looking at Prospect Heights and not Crown Heights, since many brokers will have you believe they are the same hood, which they definitely are not.

We just moved into an apartment in Boerum Hill, steps from the Atlantic Avenue stop, midway between Smith Street in Cobble Hill and Fifth Avenue in Park Slope. It's pretty exciting. Three or four blocks in any direction and you're in a different world.

Greenwood Heights? What the fuck is that? I can spit and hit Park Slope, but I can't be a Park Sloper. Now you're telling me I'm not even in WinTer?

That's it. I'm moving back to Portland.

It's OK, honey. We escaped.

P.S. - Also, you haven't seen the view from our breakfast nook today. Prospect Park is blanketed with a thin layer of snow. It's kinda delightful. I can't wait to see it in the morning (if it hasn't melted).
