I really am imagining something truly amazingly horrible.

Mike Nichols! Can you believe it? What the crap?

Would all these STARZ sign onto something terrible?

I guess we'll find out.

I'm making my grandmother take me to see this. I'm hoping she either loves it or is totally appalled. I'm planning on loving it.

My parents told me they were getting me tickets to this for Christmas. I politely refused.

I have no desire to see "The Producers" on stage, nor do I want to see the film based on the play based on the movie. The original film was PERFECT.

Monty Python was probably my biggest comedy influence when I was a kid. I adore them and cherish every DVD and book I have of theirs. But why on earth would I want to see David Hyde Pierce and Hank Azaria sing "We're Knights of the Round Table"?

Even if everything goes according to plan, I imagine this will pale in comparison to the original(s).

Unless I'm mistaken, the originals have signed off on this - Cleese especially has had good things to say but maybe it's because Idle is writing the adaptation...dunno. Go by the theatre on 44th St (Bet Bway & 8th) They've got some pretty funny graphics already.

The boys are also apparently working on a new film about their early careers(?)
Dunno (again!) but they were casting for look-alikes to their former selves...

In any case – I’m there. Ever since seeing HOLY GRAIL in the theatre when it first came out, I have been a rabid fan…especially because it irritated my poor mother so!
“Now, honestly, what is THAT supposed to be?? How can you watch this drivel?” [big sigh aaaaand exheunt]

If this show was happening like 20 years from now, I would probably not see it. But since Eric Idle is involved I think it can't be that lame.

Jed, I think you should see The Producers on broadway. Its such a good musical. There is nothing funnier than actually seeing a live chorus line of german country girls prancing around and singing while in swastica formation. Or a gay Hitler singing a love balad called "Hiel myself".

I think you would really like musical version of The Producers, its probably the best and funniest musical I've ever seen. It had me in teers.

Erik-

I purposefully chose everything AFTER the last Python movie. You are referring to projects that are 31 and 29 years old.

Eric Idle became the worst hack in the business. "Splitting Heirs", anyone? If he's the ONLY Python involved, then it's going to be lame.

Is what I humbly assume.

The Producers sucked. They removed every great line, every character dimension, everything funny and threw a $100 dollar a ticket yawner out there for the Broadway Octogenarians to titter at. I would watch Shadowboxer four times while eating bear crap, before seeing this show for free again.

That said, I expect the same for Spamelot. But I am hoping for a Knights of THe Roundtable tap number. But I remain very skeptical.

I will only see it for free. If I get extras, I will post them on the IRC.
