Joseph Gallo's Writing and Performing The Solo Show is a nine-week workshop designed for anyone with a story to tell (and all of us have a story to tell!). The class is open to all levels of experience, whether you have a great idea for a solo show, have already begun working on one, or simply have material that needs polishing. By utilizing a series of writing and performing exercises, the course focuses on finding your show’s style, developing solid characters, identifying your theme, and organizing its structure. Working in a fun and supportive environment, students will then move toward the creation of 10-15 minutes of their very own solo show. This exciting course will end with a performance of the created material in front of an invited audience!

Joseph Gallo - His solo play My Italy Story had its debut Off-Broadway at the 47th Street Theatre, and was nominated for the Gay Talese Literary Prize. Other solo shows include Whizzy and The Jealousy Piece, both of which premiered in the American Living Room festival at HERE. As a dramaturg and coach he worked on Rachel Factor’s international solo hit J.A.P., among others. He holds an MFA in playwriting from Ohio University, and currently teaches at the School of Visual Arts in New York.
