On Monday, I have an aunt coming to visit my family and I for two weeks. I also have another aunt coming in the following week for the Thanksgiving holiday as well. My Family and I were thinking of maybe taking one of my aunts, if not both of them to New York City for a day or two. And I was wondering if you might be able to help me out by telling me what's happening in New York City??? Any info you provide me will be greatly appreciated. Thanks! I don't know for sure if we are taking them or not. Let alone what we might do, once we get there and that is why I'm asking you this in advance for this much needed info. If we do decide to take them somewhere, I'll be sure to let you know when.

There's actually nothing happening in NYC till next year. We, as a city, have decided to take the rest of this month and December off.

Oh, I didn't realize that there were no events going on in New York. Very Funny Pat, I highly doubt it that improv and all other events will be taking a two month hiatus this year.

Reenie, there's great stuff every night of the week. Check the plugs forum to see which show has funnier bumps.

what days specifically are you guys thinking of being in town, reenie?
We currently haven't pin pointed any specific dates as of yet, because my aunts tend not to plan things far in advance and that is why I thought it would be a good idea if I ask you guys if you know when some events might be taking place in New York City. Like for instance, is there any special exhibits at any museums or art galleries in NYC? But like I said, I'll be sure to keep you guys posted, in the event I really do come to NYC.

Boob, Now lets not start that again! The only bits around here are you and cockofbenorbeen. I did take one of my aunts to The Christmas Show at Radio City Music Hall the one year and she really loved it. I was actually hopefully thinking of maybe taking them to see Harold night at the UCBT in the next two weeks or some kind of other improv show there. Because Matt Himes came home a couple of weeks ago and taught me how to improvise. He told me two basic things of improv are that they're no mistakes in improv and he also taught me how to start building a scene based on a suggestion from an audience member. I loved improvising with him and wish to see it live more than anything now. But the thing about that is, I don't know how to sell this idea about going to the UCBT together and I think I might need help from you guys on how to sell this idea of mine to my family because I really think they would like it also. If I was to do that I would finally get to meet some fellow IRC members, put this bit thing to rest by giving you guys a chance to meet me in person and I also might be able to give Amanda a chance to see Matt Himes again. I would even be willing to meet Terry. By meeting Terry, I would be able to clear the air with him and hopefully get a chance to have a fresh start with him.

There are lots of good things to do and see in this great city of ours and i think you'll have plenty of choice to have a fine time! There's always something funny going on as you can see from the plugs forum and all the threads with funny bumps. It's just a chance of getting your family sold on the idea of going to the UCBT and seeing the great improv this city has to offer. Maybe give them an early Christmas Present by buying them tickets to a show there!!! Then I could hopefully clear the air with you when you're done meeting Terry, because I certainly agree that fresh starts are important and that it would be better for us to get along on this board. And if I can convince my parents to come then you can meet them to and our parents can meet to!!!

The Circle Line is an excellent way to see the sites of the Big Apple. Although you should call ahead of time because one of them nearly sank recently I believe.

Miuseum Web Pages

Here are the addresses for the three main museums in NY. They'll probably all be extremely crowded Thanksgiving weekend.

As for Improv, pickings may be slimmer than usual due to performers going home to their families. My home theater will be closed, but I doubt that will be the case for bigger venues like UCB.

Rennie, I think you should look into Tony and Tina's wedding. It's a comedic play and dinner all in one (yay dinner theater and food!)

Apparently it's a lot of fun.

Also, I think you might enjoy Mama Mia. It'a a play that encorporates the works of Abba.

Also of course there's the UCB... here's the schedule
www.ucbtheatre.com
There's always something going on there. Just check out the schedule for the day you're going and just send an email or PM to the people who you know, that are preforming that day, and let them know you're coming to their show.

I think you might enjoy the quintessencial NYC tourist things. Maybe a double decker bus tour of the city?

Have your aunts been to Manhattan before? Maybe you can take a walking tour?

You should go to
www.nycvisit.com
and get an NYC guide book (they'll send it to you in the mail the next day.. if you send away for this on sunday, you should get it before thursday) as well as some ideas of what's going on while you'll be in NY.
