Ha! I can't believe they reran that song screw up. Poor little Simpson girl, doing her sad little dance.

I couldn't find the old link.

Did you see last week's re-run w/ Ben Affleck? I didn't see the latter part of the episode when it was new, but in the re-run there was a sketch where Rachel kept saying depressing things at inappropriate times. Before the sketch, there was a title which said that they were showing the tape from the rehearsal, since it worked better.

Was that title there in the live run? Was it actually rehearsal footage?

I saw that show, I am pretty sure it aired with the live sketch, which had this funny concept but it wasn't really a funny sketch. The timing on carea zooms were a little off and people kept cracking up at Rachel. (whats new?) I'm not surprised that they replaced the sketch, but I didn't know they taped the rehearsals. That's interesting. I'd love it if they made stuff from rehearsal tapes available on Comedy Central or E! or whatever. Especially musical guest songs that get cut.

I was at a SNL rehearsal a few years ago where the musical guest was Janes A. This was around the time their live album came out, the Kettle Whistle thing. They played Jane Says, and that made the show. They played another song where Perry sang and the other guys all played these enormous kettle drums, it was wicked cool. And it got cut from the show. I wish I could see that again.

I know there have been other occasions where they aired rehearsal sketches in reruns on Comedy Central and E! The only one I can think of right now is the Mango/Gwyneth Paltrow sketch where they do the Grease parody.

They often sub in dress rehearsal sketches and edit things for content (and, of course, time) in reruns. It almost seems to be the rule rather than the exception. (The famous example being the "Wayne's World" Chelsea Clinton thing.)

The rehearsal version of this sketch couldn't have been much better. Like Mark said about the live version, the camera zooms were freqently off and the entire cast just kept cracking up.

On a weekend update fansite they had this huge list of times where they replaced the live things with rehearsal things. It shocked my mind!

They cut like 25 minutes of sketches every week, they should put all the rejected ones on DVD.*

I know, they have some of them on the Best Of DVD's...and some of them suck...maybe that's why thet get cut. But buying DVD's is so cool! Audio commentary is the best!
