Small Voice Over opportunity (female), paid

#1
Sorry if this is too off-topic, but I was hoping to work through a friend via email who could filter this more narrowly, but the client just upped the ante on us, and I need to collect responses more quickly (as in, now). If you want to recommend other resources, it would be much appreciated. The money is good but not great (though this is relative; you might think it's great money for the work), and since I'm pretty familiar with the UCB folk, I thought it would be nice to pass some paying work y'alls way.

We are casting for VO for an online training presentation. Completely midwestern, completely industrial. Our client is an intermediary for the end client, but the prior sentence describes them both.

One presentation already exists, and we are not expected to match exactly, but same general tone/demeanor is preferred.

Specs:
1. Female
2. Accent neutral (Atlanta 'not-accent', e.g.)
3. Competent, soothing, but brisk. Somewhere between perky Time Life operator and flight attendant.
4. Tone and manner should be professional, 30's-ish age range (this is not an age mandate -- younger and older are welcome provided they can deliver in this range)

This is completely non-union, and non-professional audio. Since it will be streaming on the web, bit rate is so low we don't necessarily need a studio environment, since finish quality has a fixed limit. But we will need someone with a reasonably strong voice; though we will have a decent mic setup, we will be recording directly to PC (no mixing board, and limited effects in the software).

Timeframe/budget:

1. We have a complete script and want record in one session, with one-two pick-ups after. Total will likely be in the 8-20 minute range of finish audio. I would hope to do recording in 4 hours, with a hour each for re-takes/client revisions (if we exceed that, we can request additional fee and pass that along at an hourly rate).

2. We have a fixed budget for talent, but I think it's a fair rate. Clearly we aren't working with a casting agent; budget won't sustain that, but the hourly rate should work out to be a good 2-4x a good temp gig.

I have a sample script. My preference would be to email it to a handful of people who do call-ins. I can record off my phone for the first round, and then ask three-four finalists to do samples in our office for client approval (all the finalists will be able to review the fee and schedule in detail before having to commit to coming in for a final read through).

If anyone has a voice reel (CD would be preferred), great, but this isn't a requirement. Since we aren't going through an agent, it's a bit much to ask for professional VO samples, I know. If you are confident you can deliver on the above criteria, we'd like to hear from you, but, based on attending showcases and shows over the past couple years at the UCB, if you haven't progressed to or past level III (or equivalent acting class elswhere), please be certain of your compatibility before replying. And please feel free to forward email addresses to me or this information to/of anyone you think may be appropriate for this.

We would like to be finished with primary session by next Thursday-Friday (Sept 30/Oct 1). I will be responding as soon as possible (tomorrow if there are respondents), and replying over the weeked as needed. Provide as much contact information as necessary to reach you. As I'm not a complete stranger, if you have been in a show or on a team over the past two years, please include that information (it may help me pre-qualify people).

Ideally, we would be taping finalists for client selection on Tuesday (Sept 28), and recording on Wednesday or Thursday (Sept 29/30). We can be somewhat flexible in regards to your schedule, but primary recording must occur during regular business hours (and we can move the day around a bit to accomodate conflicts -- given this quick turnaroud, we are trying to be as flexible as possible).

Lastly, as should be evidenced from this, we aren't highly experienced at this specific type of work. We are a little jury-rigged for this project, but do have specific expectations and requirements.

Please email responses of interest to the email address below. I will post to this thread again when we have completed our selection process.

Thanks,
Nic Musolino

Thanks everyone.

We've had great response, and have a full dance card, so are closing casting. If you had responded, please check VM and/or voice mail (you should have a response from me in some form). And I owe Mullaney a drink for making this possible.
