APPLICATION DEADLINE - AUGUST 20TH AT 5PM
What is it?!
The PITʼs 4th Annual SketchProv Festival runs September 19th - September 25th. This festival will test your improv, sketch and sketchprov abilities in the form of A GIANT TOURNAMENT!
That's right! Festival judges and audience members will, round after round and night after night, decide who the best of the best is - with the grand champion taking home a huge cash prize of $2,500!
Improv teams and sketch teams will compete in rounds of competition that will challenge them at the craft they know best. For groups that make it past round one, improv teams will do improv AND sketch, sketch teams will do sketch AND improv. Teams that advance to the finals will try their hand at SketchProv, using the Second
routine called "The Pad."
In “The Pad” a team will receive suggestions from the audience - These suggestions can be anything from locations, activities or character motivations. Teams jots these suggestions down, go backstage and after 10-15 minutes re-enter the theater, with basic beats of a sketch to be improvised in full.

Who can participate?!
This competition is open to groups from all theaters and different disciplines. You will have to identify yourselves as "improv" or "sketch.” This can include musical improv, two-prov, musical sketch comedy, multi-media sketch, etc. You are allowed to be in more than one group that competes, however you may be called on to compete against yourself.

Submissions must include the following materials. Please send all mail to:

You may also submit an e-packet via email to jlepine@thepit-nyc.com (You will not be considered until your submission fee is received).
1. Completed submission form.
2. Video (DVD, Youtube, Vimeo... etc) of at least 10 minutes of material (preferably in the category you are choosing, but it can also be a video of one of your shows, a comedic viral sketch, a promo, etc).
3. A team photo (on a disc, in jpg format, high res)
4. A $30 participation fee. This fee is non refundable. Fee can be paid by cash or check.
SUBMISSIONS ARE DUE BY FRIDAY, AUGUST 20th at 5PM!
NOTE: In order to submit, YOU (or a majority of your group) MUST BE AVAILABLE TO PERFORM ON THE EVENINGS OF SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 19th THROUGH SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 25th. The exact lineup and round structure of the SketchProv shows will be determined after the submission process has taken place.
The match-ups will be chosen by random drawing from the pool of eligible groups.
