Greetings and Welcome to the Third VIDIOCY!
The Short Film Contest and Festival!
This is the third installment of the exciting new short film contest and festival! Contestants use their mind, their skills and their friends! Contestants beg, borrow, steal equipment! This contest is for people who love telling stories! VIDIOCY! is anyone who has ever wanted to make a short film and never had a reason to!
Here’s how VIDIOCY will work:
It’s only $20 to enter! Only individual contestants may register.
You may register via e-mail ("vidiocyshorts@yahoo.com") or by calling 773-259-6087, beginning on July 1st.
Drawing Night will be in the ImprovOlympic Del Close Theater, July 6th @10pm. Each contestant(or their representative) will draw a random title from the Big Bag Of Random Titles. Out of town entrants can register via telephone during drawing evening.
The Drawing will be followed by a viewing of the Final Four from the previous VIDIOCY!
You have only 23 days! To complete a short film (no more than 10 minutes, PLEASE!) that explores and/or utilizes the title you received!
DEADLINE: Your project must be turned in or mailed to the VIDIOCY! producers by Monday, July 29th by Midnight! Your project must be turned in on VHS, DVD, or mini-DV only.
August 3rd @ 10pm (location to be announced) will be Nomination Night! The VIDIOCY producers will announce the 12 semi-finalists. Only these entries will be judged on…
Exhibition Night! August 5the @ 8pm in the LakeShore Theater! Your registration gives you 3 (including you) passes to the affair.
A heretofore secret panel of judges will convene as we all watch the 12 semi-finalists together! Fun! The judges will rate each entry from 1 to 10 in the following categories; Originality, Craftsmanship and Use of Title. Based on these rankings the field will be narrowed down to only four contestants. The audience, by ballot, will vote for the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and Honorable Mention contestants! (1st Prize is $250, 2nd- $100, 3rd- $75, and Honorable Mention gets a free entry into the fourth Vidiocy!)
That’s it! Fun!
What does your video have to have? It must have 10 seconds of black at the beginning and end of the entry. It must have a title card and your name at the very beginning of the video and it must be under 10 minutes (seriously. 5 or 10 seconds over and you’re disqualifed, bub! Credits count!)
The executive producers of VIDIOCY! are Jason R. Chin and Jeff Griggs.
All decisions by the executive producers and the judges are FINAL.
You own all the rights to whatever you create, but your physical entries (the tapes, DVDs) become property of VIDIOCY!
