Seeking new doctor

Hi,

Need a good primary-care physician. East Village/Union Square/Gramercy would be best but I will travel. Should be on the ball, able to deal with stuff slightly beyond the common cold (ie, monitoring of medication), and not make you wait for hours on end. Hopefully they will take insurance.

(If you can't tell I am not happy with my current doctor.)

Recommendations appreciated. PM or post.

Thanks!

Do you have an HMO, a PPO, some other sort of plan?

Meaning, do you need a PCP who has a ready, long, and reliable list of specialists to whom he can send you if needed? Or will it probably never be an issue as you can go out and find your own specialists?

Also, are you looking for a PCP who caters more exclusively to women, or does it matter not?

Bumping this thread. Anyone know of a good primary physician in the upper east side, preferably who takes the Oxford health plan? Thanks!

Yes! I'm very happy with the docs at Manhattan Family Practice. I've dealt with all three of the doctors — Levy, Gilban and Kearns-Stanley — and though I like them all, Dr. Sandra Gilban is my favorite. They take Oxford.

I've been going to them for years even though it's not remotely convenient for me.
