Dear Fellow Improvisers,
On behalf of Unexpected Productions members of your group are officially invited to the 5th International Festival of Improvisation in Seattle, Washington, USA June 10th - 17th, 2001.
We would like to extend an invitation you to join the festival. The festival is limited to 25 participants to allow for full participation at the festival. We have always offered the previous years attendees the first opportunity to sign up in an effort over the years to develop an international ensemble of improvisers. So, there are at present time only five slots remaining for the 2001 Festival. If more members of your group wish to attend, additional spots may be available after the deadline.
Unexpected Productions is producing and staging the 5th International Festival of Improvisation to allow groups from all over the world to share, collaborate, and exchange improvisational formats with each other in an educational environment. Your invitation will allow you to learn formats from other groups attending, to share formats unique to your group, many opportunities to perform, learn and improve skills, and attend special events.
In addition, Unexpected Productions is offering an opportunity to attend workshops with master teachers. The theme this year will be “Body and Soul” with an emphasis on developing a sense of the body and voice in theatrical improvisation. To this end, two of the three the instructors will be from other areas of spontaneous performance outside of improvisational theater. This year's Master teachers will be Ruth Zaporah, and Rachel Rosenthal. Finally, I will be guiding the ensemble in the creation of a new long form created as part of the festival. Please find a brief biography of all teachers attached to this email.
We can offer you lodging, workshop and performance space, and some meals. We cannot cover travel expenses and some meals will be up to the participants to provide for themselves. In addition there will be a $250 fee charged for the workshops. We are more than willing to provide you, upon request, with any Unexpected Productions materials, and “official” written invitations to help you raise the funds necessary to attend.
If you have any questions, or wish to discuss the instructors, fees, or other arrangements further please feel free to contact me at 1-206-587-2414 or by email at rjdix@aol.com. Time is of the essence in regard to this invitation. We will register participants on a first come, first serve basis. A “yes” to this invitation will confirm your attendance pending payment arrangement. The deadline for acceptance is May 12th, 2001. We look forward to seeing you in Seattle!
