I'm offering two classes in screenwriting designed for improvisors and sketch artists who want to take the leap into the movies:

Find out more at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=190458180975215

WRITE MOVIES PEOPLE WANT TO SEE
Wed 7-10, 8 weeks: March 23-May 11

A no-nonsense guide to conceiving, fleshing out, and outlining your screenplay. Whether you want to make a hollywood blockbuster or a $1,000 indie guerrilla project, the principals are the same.
This class will concentrate on conceiving your project and figuring out the story so you can go off and write.

SCENEWRITER FOR SCREENWRITERS
Tues 7-10, 6 weeks: March 22-April 26

Scenewriter is my patented method for writing good scenes (it's not really patented). When you start with a strong scene breakdown, you can much more easily write a compelling scene - whether it's horrifying or hilarious. This technique works whether you're writing on your own or using improv to quickly develop the script, and we will cover both.

In this class, you will work on three scenes with great intensity. In doing so, you will learn how to make all your scenes really terrific.

NOTE: Students of both classes and my previous TV Writing Class will be eligible for occasional free screenings to illustrate my point. And all will also gain free admission to my workshop on marketing yourself as an entertainer in April.

The top class is about the movie idea, treatment and outline. The bottom is about scenes. They can be taken separately or together.

Write Movies People Want to See: $300
Scenewriter for Screenwriters: $225
BOTH: $399

Limit: 12 people per class, by application only.

Dan Abrams is an award-winning Hollywood Asshole. While working in development, he poo-poo'ed the now Oscar-nominated Winter's Bone in favor of several other movies that never got greenlit.

He's worked with 6 academy award nominees, but only 4 of them actually one. He's studied extensively with for UA Production Head Stephen Bach and Second City director Jeff Michalski, and taken workshops with Oscar Winner Claude LeLouche and Monty Python's Terry Jones. He holds a BFA, with honors, in Screenwriting from SVA.

He's been paid to write for TV, Film, and now a video game, which is really all he wanted.

Reviews from some of my past students:

Britney Harris:
"Abrams' professional experience in the field is extensive for someone so young, and he presents a wide range of information in a way that is really accessible. Very exciting stuff!

You made creating a sitcom seem like an actual possibility instead of "isn't it fun how we're playing pretend, and maybe one day we'll try this seriously". I feel like we're really doing something here."

Rocco Privetera:
"...easy to understand, fun, with lots of practical information and brainstorming exercises”

Hy Bender:
"Dan Abrams provided more critical insights about TV writing in three hours than I'd learned from reading entire books...Dan's a top instructor and writing pro who's well worth your time."

Avivit Bar-Yosef:
"Dan Abrams is Awesome."
