OPENING WEEKEND
We have an amazing opening weekend lineup, starting with our strictly local OPENING NIGHT!, featuring The Super Dupers, BATS Improv, Crisis Hopkins and hosted by sketch powerhouse PianoFight!
Next up, our first Friday of the fest comes on strong in our 7:30PM show with locals 15 Minutes along with Dr. God! Dr. God, who anchor the mainstage at LA's iO West Theater every Saturday night, bring with them Dave Holmes, a regular guest on Reno 911! and host of FX's DVD on TV.
The weekend continues our Retrospective Series installment with Del Close: The Early Years at 6:00PM on Saturday featuring "Truth in Comedy" co-authors Charna Halpern and Kim "Howard" Johnson in conversation with members of The Committee (Chris Pray, Ed Greenberg) about the man who trained improvisors from John Belushi to Tina Fey and who did much in San Francisco to make improv what it is today.
Our Saturday night double headers start off with SF's Leela, bringing their training center's main cast to wow us, along with Local honey - all the way from Dallas, TX with their amazing three-woman show (7:30PM). After this, at 9:30PM we give you another helping of Dr. God, this time along with Serious V-neck, who bring a hilarious show that has played LA's The Groundlings, UCB, IO West and Comedy Sportz stages.
The weekend then rounds out on Sunday with the SFIF's award night where we will proudly present Jim Cranna with the OCIC Award, for his outstanding contribution to the improv community. This man has over 35 years performing and mentoring in improv in San Francisco, and we're proud to honor him at this free event, starting at 5:30PM.
