I got off the phone with register.com. They just updated their settings. It may take 24-72 hours before anyone notices a difference. If you have had a problem accessing the site using improvisation.ws and the problem clears up, please let me know.

Yeah, propagation of site names can be a bitch when you want things done immediately, but i've found in the end, it doesn't make much of a difference.

Good thing getting out of register.com, you can handle all of your own domain issues through VeriSign at www.netsol.com . As far as cross linking goes, i think the vBulletin admin panel has a search and replace function in it. You might want to shut down the system for a couple hours before you make any drastic changes.

My opinion, though, is to wait a week for the propagation to pan out, and no one should have troubles with improvisation.ws, which is fine with me. You could use both and keep all of your link references relative to the server. So, that your Del section would be referenced by linking as "/del" and that would work for both www.improvisation.ws/del and www.improvresourcecenter.com/del

For those of you who may care (and understand what I'm talking about), here is what the problem was. A month ago, when I changed over to f5hosting.com, register.com somehow botched the propagation. There were a few people who still got the old-old site, maybe 10%. After a month, I finally got them to repropagate my DNS settings.

Everything should have been fine, except that about 24 hours later, my hosting company changed the IP address of their DNS servers, in the middle of the propagation window. My best guess is those of you who couldn't find the site this past week were on ISP's who got propagated first with the old IP address. 75% of people who could find the site, were on ISP's who got propagated with the new IP numbers after my host changed servers.

Anyway, we'll see if improvisation.ws clears up. If it does, I may just stick with improvisation.ws and keep improvresourcecenter.com pointed here as well.

I don't mind waiting a few days, but register.com's propagations were taking well over a week and were incomplete. This last propagation left out up to 30% of users.

I'm not sure what you mean by this. One of the problems I'm having is that there appears to be no easy way to transfer .ws domain names. Every registrar I've tried, refuses to attempt a transfer. I think I'm stuck with register.com.

There won't be any problems with double boards. It's one site with one database. Just two names pointed to the same server.

It already works this way mostly. As far as I know there are a couple of links on the site which wouldn't work quite as expected.

No Yesterday, OK Today

My ability to access the site has been sporadic over the past week. Sometimes improvisation.ws will come up (small parts of two days this past week) and the rest of the time I get the "nothing at this address" screen. Yesterday I was still getting the "nothing" screen but today I have access. Maybe the problem is solved? Unfortunately, I can't post about any access issues when there are access issues.

That reminds me of this moment from a reunion dinner: "I'd like to make a toast to all the friends who couldn't make it to be with us tonight. Would you all stand up?" No one stood up right away. It seemed like, for a second, people were waiting to see if someone who couldn't make it was going to stand up to be acknowledged. Then everyone stood up for the toast.

I continue to have spotty access to ImprovResourceCenter.com and Improvisation.ws from my home computer. Head's up!

Sometimes I can surf around; sometimes it's Cannot find server.
