Hello improvisers!

My name is Rudy Behrens and I'm looking to coach any type/level of longform improv team or practice group.

About me: I have been studying improv at the UCB and with independent teams and teachers since February 2009. I currently practice and perform with the wonderful indie teams SWOON and Boy Butter. In the UCB Advanced Study Program I have been instructed by Shannon O'Neill, Erik Tanouye, Porter Mason and Michael Delaney.

I like to work on: Keeping scenes active and moving forward, pinpointing games and playing them clearly, working to players and groups strengths, and making those strong choices that lead to fun, original comedic ideas.

My availability varies, as my job is very flexible with the hours I work. Please email me at rudybehrens@gmail.com and I will have an answer for you very shortly after. I'm cheap, cheap, cheap for no reason other than the fact that I want the opportunity to work with improvisers. I'ts not about the money, man!

Let's do this!

Rudy is a really smart and observant improviser who can definitely foster a chill atmosphere while allowing you the reps and structure you need to tighten up your improv.

I don't like Rudy Behrens. I love him!

Rudy is a sweet lovable guy who can be a great coach for your improv needs.

very solid coach

Rudy is talented at being able to clearly articulate the game of a scene and focus in on how to drive a scene in active ways. His personality and general vibe bring a supportive and focused energy to practice that is really helpful when trying to develop. Maybe most importantly though, the guy is a real student of improv who loves it and thinks about it often and thinks a lot about how to do it well and teach it to others. Would highly recommend him, particularly for groups/students in 101-401 who are looking for a coach who can help them really develop.

I've had the pleasure of improvising with Rudy for the past three years, and I can't recommend him highly enough as a coach and an improv spirit guide. He's the kind of coach (and overall improviser) that, instead of just watching a scene and going over it afterwards to see what could have been done, he'll get in there and figure it out with you in the moment, which is (to me) the most effective and enjoyable way to learn and play.

Aside from that, Rudy is also incredibly dedicated to improv, both the art form and the creative community of improvisers. If you want a coach to roll in and give you some good scene notes, you can find that anywhere. If you want a coach who will truly commit to your group and invest in your growth, and would love to grab a beer after practice and talk stuff over (NO PROMISES but I'm pretty sure he'd be totally down), Rudy is your guy. Grab him while you can!

I would LOVE to get a beer, as long as I don't have somewhere to be (likely). Also by "cheap, cheap, cheap" I mean $15/hr! That's also something I'm flexible about, though.

I've worked with Rudy for over three years. He's one of the best and brightest. These prices won't last long! Get in on Rudy now before he realizes how much he's really worth an hour!

Rudy is good. He's like a missile of improv clarity. Help him coach your guidance systems to oh god what is this metaphor it's so confusing--

Anyway, he is great.
