Scott Muni, a veteran radio DJ and personality died last night. His rock and roll legend goes back to the 50s, he's the guy who actually replaced Alan Freed at WAKR in Akron Ohio. He was one of the original "Good Guys" of WMCA in NYC. His legend grew when he moved to WABC in 1960. He was the guy in NYC who championed the Beatles and he became great friends with them. In 1967 he moved to WNEW where he helped that station create a whole new format of rock and roll radio.

There's more about him at q104.3's website.

So long professor. I'll be thinking of you at noon everyday, when I would religiously tune in for the Beatle's Block and all the sets of songs that you put together.
