Ridiculous Question #1: Anyone have an in at Nobu?

#1
I'm desparately trying to get a table in Febuary for a friend of mine's birthday. He lives in Philly and is a huge sushi fan and all he talks about is someday going to Nobu.
I have the reservation number but it is constantly busy.

Anyone? Anyone?

Did you try Next Door Nobu?

I've never been to either, but that one might be easier to get in too.

As a former hostess at Vong, here is my best tip if reserving ahead doesn't work :
I got in as a walk-in at Nobu by going when they opened and promising to be out in an hour. Acting skills definitely help at this because you also have to strike the right tone somewhere between obeisant, beseeching and sympathetic (to the difficulty of their job). Good luck!

PS - you might also try opentable.com, if they are listed there.

If you know anyone with a Platinum American Express, have them call the Concierge Service number (Customer Service 800 525 3355 can get you the direct number).

There are a few tables set aside for Platinum Cardholders at the nicest and trendiest restaurants in most major cities. The concierge service takes care of everything for you, or rather, your Platinum Card holding friend.
