rent a fat suit?

IRC, where would I go to rent a fat suit in New York? I recently got in contact with a friend from aeons ago who turns out to live here. We're supposed to get together at some point, and it seems like an excellent opportunity to make him think at first that I've become totally obese.

Can you let me know if you find a fat suit rental? I was just recently mentioning to a friend how ridiculously badly I want to invest in a fat suit. Although maybe a rental is a good idea before taking the big plunge.

Real, good-looking, fat suits are ridiculously expensive- I did the research when I played a fat guy for a year in a show. It depends on how real you want it to look. At Ricky's and Halloween Adventure they sell funny costumes that could run you $50 and up, but they don't look that great.

I ended up going to the Big & Tall Store and getting huge clothing and then stuffing my clothes with towels and pillows. It was a pain, but it looked pretty decent.

The other thing is, since I haven't seen my friend in like 15 years or so, my options are pretty wide open. It's too late to fake being transgendered (we had a longish catching-up phone convo and it probably would've come up) but maybe something subtle, like an eyepatch and a long, rambling story to go with it.

The fat suit is very compelling, though. If I find a good source, I'll report back.
