Parade of Shoes on 5th Avenue @ 38th (approx, east side of the street) is closing out!

Cheap Cheap shoes and boots (ladies), suede gloves, socks, hats handbags (cheapy though)! As the inventory declines, the percentage discount on top of the regular discount increases (yesterday there was another 10% off lots of stuff which was already knocked down).

Shoes slightly on the spiky side but amusing.

Last Parade to go out of business, I got a bunch of $5 leather pumps! Keep an eye on this one if you work in midtown!

No Boy Shoes

Unfortunately they do not sell boy shoes.

But I am starting to think they might all be going out of business. I caught a great sale on the Upper West Side about three months ago. Hmm? Thanks for the tip. I'll check it out after work.

but i want boy shoes!
Payless has wonderful boy shoes. In fact, the Payless on 42nd and Madison has an extensive boy shoe department and sales galore this week on both boy and girl shoes!!

I often buy boy boots at Payless (hikers, workboots) and they last forever!

Retail Tip of Today!

Here's another Shoe Shopping Tip:

www.zappos.com has Free Shipping and Returns. A friend sent me here because she's had great success with it. I purchased boots and they came faster than expected. I have since returned them (I didn't like them, but they were great quality) and requested two other pairs of name brand shoes on deeeeep discount.

They have great sales, product (user generated) reviews and a massive selection of designers brands. Their site is incredibly easy to negotiate.

They have a large range of sizes (really tiny, big, narrow and wide), and even have "vegetarian" shoes.

I got an acknowledgment of my FREE return in a couple of days and am awaiting a prompt credit and for my new shoes to turn up soon.

Anyone have any idea where I might've gotten my Pony sneakers for 20 bucks (or might get more)? I wandered into some store in midtown. I have no idea where. Then I wore the sneakers till they were all ripped up. I need more of the same. any tips would be appreciated!

They were red with yellow laces and outlines. the Pony sneakers in general had great colors. really comfortable too.

While Zappos has a large range of prices on the red Pony sneakers unfortunately they aren't as low as $20 except for the high tops (you can search by color!)

Try, if you are downtown, the great shoe annex at Century 21. The entrance is on Broadway and Cortland around the corner from the main store (they're connected though) and has a great selection (but not consistent, however). I got classic Adidas there half price.

A minor shoe-related gripe:

I've been very dissapointed with Century 21 lately. Both the brooklyn and manhattan stores. Most of their stuff is really junky. I used to rely on them for great deals on shoes...it's very depressing. The DSW in the Atlantic Center isn't very good either. And I can't be bothered to hike up to Woodbury Commons. Also, I hate to pay retail unless I have to and have a very weird foot size, so I can't order anything online...otherwise, Bluefly would be my friend. It sucks. What's a shoe whore to do?

My thoughts/questions exactly! I haven't seen a pair of shoes I really wanted in a while. Thought sometimes you can find a nice sale item at Otto Tootsi Plohound.

Robin, I think you're my soulmate.

Heel-arious!

Sometimes (not always) one can get lucky at the upstairs of the ShoeMania on the corner of Broadway and 14th (but ONLY that branch).

Have you ladies tried Zappos.com? I'm waiting for my sale shoes to come back, and the return's been processed already on my boots (great time!)

Shoe whores: Saks.

Get in good w/ one of the salespeople, buy a pair at full price if you have to, but make sure you get into their client book. Make out like you're a shoe addict. You'll get mailings/calls whenever there's a sale.

You've been warned.
