10pm WBAI radio show. (99.5)

www.wbai.org

Janet Coleman (author of The Compass: The Improvisational Theatre That Revolutionized American Comedy) will be doing her radio show on Del Close and the Del Close Marathon at the UCB theater, which starts Friday at 7PM.

Panel will include Gary Goodrow and Ed Greenberg of the Committee, the UCB, Ed Zareh, me, and a few others by phone, Charna Halpern, maybe Mina Kolb, maybe Julie Payne..and some Basque improvisational poetry!

There's a Internet feed on the website if you don't get 99.5, or aren't in NY, but I didn't have any luck making it work.

Tune in!

Exciting! I wish I was going to be near a radio or computer at 10 pm tonight. There are several beers waiting for the person who will record or transcribe it for me.

 Great show Shannon (wouldn't have heard it if you hadn't posted it!). To you, Ed Z. , the UCB (minus Besser), et al who contributed: thanks!

Sorry, I have no transcript or MP3 to offer. However, if Fishie could be persuaded to share those notebooks he kept when he was in Del's class ( if memory serves he promised to post them here at one point . . . ) maybe we could work something out. Beer doesn't do it for me :tsk: , but good improv advice/stories/discussion does :) .

I'm sure one of the techies here can dig up a recording/transcript of the show.

Clever circumloction tactics there goldie-fishy-fish

now back to our regularly scheduled question --

"Where's da goods, Mike?"

"I said - Where'd ya stash da goods??"

Don't be trying no diversions, represent for Del god-dammit, if not for him, then for us, the greedy leechers of the internet inc. (GLOTI).

John GLOTI has spoken.

Del Close class notes

I have all but two classes transcribed.

I'm torn whether or not to try to annotate them. As they stand I don't know if they'll be useful at all to anyone who wasn't in the classes -- it's mostly sentence fragments and short phrases that don't necessarily fit together in any logical way. Very subjective on my part, I'm sure, too.

I guess if nothing else, it'll reveal a bit of Del's artistic approach, which was unique and unrepeatable. An example: in a year and a half's worth of notes, there are only two or three references to "the game," and one of them seems to have referred to group games.

When I finish transcribing them I'll decide what the best thing is to do with them.
