I'm serious, though. And no, for the love of all that's holy, I am NOT bitter. Confused, maybe. Trying to stay off all the turf I'm not supposed to tread on, and fumbling with what's left...well, that can be confusing.
I've mentioned in previous posts in the off topic forum that I have a desire to learn more about what it is that improvisers actually *do*. Granted, there's talk going on all around, but when you haven't seen these people in action, it's mighty hard to mentally picture. The information is as complete as they need it to be, but it falls short of explaining it to me.
Is there a place anywhere on this site where it would be safe and okay to ask really dumb and lame-assed questions (because they'd be coming from a completely uninformed newbie - not to the site, but to the practice itself) and find that anyone was willing to answer in such a way that that answer could hopefully truly be understood?
That was one helluva long sentence, sorry.
Please don't think I'm being snippish or trying to start another 'war'. I promise you that I am not. It's just that I feel like it would be unwelcome in the Improv forum - I obviously don't belong there, I cannot contribute, only ask questions...and I can't see any patience level for these kinds of questions in the off topic forum. Basically I'm thinking folks would find completely uninformed questions beneath them, and a huge pain in the ass.
Is there anyone with the time, patience, and willingness to even volunteer to answer questions that would probably bore them to tears? If not, then I think all hope for me is lost. I've been reading posts for seven months, and I'm no closer to a clear mental picture than I was in the beginning.
I am saddened by my inability to 'see' what everyone else sees, and I'm ready to give up.
