It sounds bizarre in description. However, it was absolutely incredible, touching, and funny… [It] is so fascinating because it is not like other improv.

After an incredible run with THIS IS STORYBOX, the group is back with new concepts and more time to play. Join us at the brand new Canal Park Playhouse, where we perform Monday nights. We’ll invite three audience members on stage each night, this time in a proscenium setting.

Like jazz musicians playing off each other, this improvisational troupe uses their unique nurturing techniques to bring 3 non-actor audience volunteers into 3 spontaneously created 30 minute “plays” each evening. The volunteers are not simply part of these plays, they are the principal characters- the stars of each play. They invent most of the dialogue and drive the story line. The Properties of Play team seamlessly helps the volunteers release the latent improvisational “actor” within each of them.

The title of this performance derives from a list created by Dr. Stuart Brown. He documents 7 properties that encompass play, which we consider define our work as well.
Related studies consistently show the importance of play throughout our lives. We figured instead of reading about it, why not experience it.
