I don't think the Triple Crown is as sketchy as Deno's. :) And I haven't worn a bikini since I was six, so no worries there.

Celebrate the First Annual National Sketch Writing Month
Thursday October 2nd
7ish - whenever
Triple Crown

Come celebrate, writers and readers alike.

im at 20 and maybe 3 or 4 are kind of cheap, cause they were stream of consciousness monologues...but the others are more substantial, there's maybe 3 or 4 that i think could actually be something..but it has definitely been a good exercise in WRITING...so glad i put that post up months ago that led to this...i have read two very good books on writing...one is called, literally "On Writing" by stephen king..that was recommended to me by someone from the post and the other is called "Writing from the inside out" by Dennis Palumbo...both great for making you realize, you pretty much think the way every writer does whenever you think those things that make you think you dont know what you are thinking...i think thats what i wanted to say...anyway, i should be there thursday night and look forward to sharing thoughts with the others....

are we bringing sketches to read????

I won't hit 30, but I'm still very glad I did it. Between me and the much more prolific Michael Hartney, Secret Hospital has a buttload of new sketches to film and/or perform. Thanks for setting this up, Michelle!

I'm supposed to be having dinner somewhere on Thursday, but I'd love to try to stop by for a celebratory drink....

Speaking of failures

I thought My two extra hours in Boulder, CO might amount to something in those final hours but it didn't work out, I finished at 2 and 2halfs, which is better than I can say for Most months, but far and away a poor showing.

Congrats everyone else and I wish I could join you for drinks.

Thanks for the inspiration.

I got to 30 by my usual methods of dropping my standards at the slightest pressure.

Great fun!

I think doing even 2 is a great accomplishment. If you just did 1 then you are a failure. FAILURE.

I'll be by for a quick drink then I'm running of to see Stereolab.

Mine are here:

You don't have to read them, but look at the hilarious names!

22 is my final number...but i plan on giving myself an extension to finish the last 8. a very good experience that has me thinking about everything in my life that happens as a sketch in some way...i guess thats how the writer mind works....life becomes almost second to writing...or is it a communal relationship, is that the right communal? no interdependent....i dunno, whatever...seeyas tonight. 8? 9? what time?

I did 16, I think, with a few half-started or in my brain queue. Maybe I'll try to get to 30 by the end of October.

I'm very sorry I'll be missing the drinks, but have a great time. Congratulations, everyone!

I did 30 easily because I removed any pride in my writing and posted mostly first drafts. Therefore probably 5 of these are actually any good. But who cares! I did 30... that was the point right? Quantity over quality?

My quantity is posted here: http://thatsshamtastic.tumblr.com/

If anyone is still at this "sketch partay" around 10 i'll see you... 7 is too early para mi :)

I'm planning to be there around 730ish depending on work. I have been trying to post more sketches but my web host is acting up.

I'm pretty happy with my output, and with my ability to be absurd and sometimes let the sketches write themselves. For example, I started with a premise that SCN suggested (about a 'teen' magazine) and it ended up being a creepy-ish teen stalker sketch. Fun!

Also* I vote the Will Hines dead baby and stop the wedding to be performed somewhere some how. Be it video or stage. It would be great to see! As would Anne's evil bear sketch

... in my humble opinion :)

I enjoyed many of them. I liked how simple many were. Anne's "World Music Oneupmanship" had me at the title. I liked Shamika's "If you see something say something" and the nicely weird "Captivate Network", Jeff's sketch with the 1908 mayor congratulating someone on their journey to the moon, Michelle's apologetic titles (and her sketch with the record shop finding out they're officially obsolete, the last human being on earth with AOL hit home since I work there, and Hartney's Bravo's promos. I learned more about pop culture from Hartney's sketches than I did from the actual television in my house.

I didn't read all of everyone's, but it was fun to browse around.

next year, Warth!

I enjoyed checking out everyone's sketches. I also realized that pop culture sketches are cool if you have some handle on what is being parodied; I had a 'civilian' non-cable-TV watcher read my sketches and he just didn't get a couple of them that were based on silly reality shows.
