This is the thread for all things related to Cecily and Gwendolyn's Fantastical Balloon Ride. Well, except the workshop. That is another thread.

Cecily and Gwendolyn's Fantastical Balloon Ride
Presented by The Philadelphia Joke Initiative with support from Freefall Productions.

Meet Cecily and Gwendolyn, two slightly mad Victorian time travelers and self-proclaimed social anthropologists. Imagine their surprise when, upon return from their latest hot air balloon excursion through time, they discover… you! In this completely improvised, two-person, audience-interactive extravaganza, Cec and Gwen discover new civilizations and boldly go where no self-respecting Victorian woman would ever dare!

The Latvian Society, 531 North 7th Street, Philadelphia, PA
January 13th-31st, 2010. See Events Calendar for dates/times.
Tickets $10-$20. Buy tickets now!

Don't wait 'till the last week...start a trend...be the first to see this show...then come back later and be all smug and knowing while C and G first timers fall down the rabbit hole.

You are a smart man, Jason. Because Wednesday is opening night. What does that mean?

1. Snacks
2. A post-show reception (that's where the snacks come in)
3. A post-show show starring ... You? That's right, it's the Opening Night Open Jambaroo! Hosted by Rick Horner; featuring Super Special Guest Todd Rice!

FUN FACT: The Latvian Society has a bar on site; you can purchase drinks and bring them into the show with you! Just watch that Cec and Gwen don't swipe it.

TONIGHT IT IS THE OPENING NIGHT, now with 42% more openingyness!

Like I said, there is Todd Rice, Rick Horner, and a special guest I can't advertise.

The special guest is not Titties. Sorry, Don Montrey.

Have you seen this show yet?
  • Yes? I mean DAMN, right?
  • No? Why the hell not?

I am so excited about what Kelly and Karen have done and the new heights they're taking audience participation to.
From my recent post about the show...
"(They) have taken the idea of audience participation, and replaced it with complete audience immersion. The entire show is an evening that we’re all invited to take part in. Everything from the set to the seating, the costumes to the conversation, all welcome the audience member in, begging to be engaged, hoping to engross. Sitting there with only a handful of people, I’ve never felt so unconscious of my contribution. Getz and Jennings do a remarkable job of captivating with ease. Something that while I know from talking to them has taken years to develop, comes across as simple and organic."
What did you think? Let's talk about it!

John, i love you, and i hear Christine is doing improv now, and I love that, too.

everybody: how come no one told me i had written "Paw What You Can" instead of "Pay What You Can"?

whooooot

i thought that "paw what you can" was hip and intentional! i thought it was a great way to spin a 'pay what you can' gig! i think it's a happy accident. just like when someone said she used 'mouth to mouth' for advertising, instead of saying 'word of mouth.'

i tried to "heighten" this thread by Googling dancing bananas. there is apparently a Dancing Bananas PedoBear video, but i am terrified to watch it.

PS, it's not their Name Day celebration, but Adams and Laris are pretty awesome, too.
