Day 5 - Sally's Apizza in New Haven, CT

I wish my computer at work had sound!! Oh Elm City, with your dueling pizza restaurants! (Which I maintain that the best pizza in New Haven is the little known Pizza House on Howe St, not the best ambiance, but great service and it has the sharp crispy crust I love and miss)

and provide all the available days/pizza preferences and I will do my best to fit you in. Thanks for your interest! :)

Lombardi's?

If you want to be all-inclusive on the boroughs, I might recommend John & Joe's in the Bronx. More for the garlic knots, but that's another month I'd imagine!

The often over looked and best pizza experience one can have in New York City is Di Fara's Pizza in Brooklyn on Ave. J.

It makes all the lists and I've been to all but one of the ones you've visited and it bets them all. Hell I live in New Haven and anit nothing here as good as Di Fara's.

Give yourself at least an hour to do it though. Dominic must be 80-something and has does it all himself. Watching him cook is more like performance art.

I know I don't know you Sean but I promise you the highlight of all highlights out in the far reaches of Brooklyn. Plus I'm fat so I know food.

ha! you do know good pizza if you like di fara. that old man is Dominici Demarco and although I accidentally recorded over a good chunk of it, if you click on day 9 above you can see him in action. thanks for the recommendation. out of curiosity what is your favorite new haven pizza place?

Frank Pepe's is good and Sally's is almost as good along with Amodern Pizza but I go with Grand Apizza... maybe because its locate (I live kind of in the bad part of town) or because you would never find more then five people there at a time let alone a line or maybe its the $2 Buds, but its less of a pizza factory and more done personally for you.

The head cook said he use to work at Sally's and his family is raised him to cook pizza so between the two its good. This all said other then pizza chains you really really have to try to find a bad pizza place in this city.

I just moved up here from New York (god do I miss the it) and only thing New Haven has on NYC is pizza. Which is saying something.

But none not a one come close to Di Fara's. Best Pizza in the world (sadly I've never visited Chicago though I have been to Naples.)
