Ping pong parlors?

Fat Cat Fat Cat Fat Cat. Actually I'm not sure how prices compare, but it seemed reasonable. It's kind of a dive but chess and scrabble and a great mix of people young and old, black and white, etc. And you get to hear some really great jazz too (on weekends there's a 3 dollar cover at the door which is good cause it keeps the crowds down a little.)

I love Fat Cat. If you know of any other one though, I'd love to try out another place too. There is one ping pong table at SLATE...but that is sort of a temporary thing where they put the net and boards on top of an unused pool table.

Depends on how serious you are about it. Fat cat is fun and you get to drink beer and listen to Jazz, but there really isn't enough space around the tables to play properly and I found the $5/person/hour added up pretty quickly. Also, the PBRs made me fall down.

From what I know, the boss places are all in Chinatown. There's one I've seen that is in Cortland Alley between Walker and White. Downstairs. Kind of tricky to find, but that makes it all the more fun.

Also up for a game sometime if you need players...

Brownstone Billiards

If you're looking for a spot in Brooklyn, there's a decent place right outside the 7th Ave Q Train stop, at 7th Ave & Flatbush called "Brownstone Billiards". The tables afford plenty of striking space, and you can bring your own beer!
