photos from my day trip to Cannes where my film won an award

Hey there everyone, Braggy McBraggersons here...

many of you don't know that for the last two years or so I have been working on a feature length documentary on the origins of poverty. Why does poverty it persist when there is so much wealth in the world?

I came up with the idea for the film and wrote its first treatment. Coming from a tv development background I figured I could fake a film proposal fairly well. I cold called production companies and secured total funding and got a distributor. I ended up with a Producer credit but had my hand on the rudder of the film along the way.

Crazy. My first film. Well the film called "The End of Poverty?" won an award at Cannes "Official Selection of the 2008 Cannes Film Festival - Critics Week."

This is crazy since Cannes doesn't really show documentaries (only three this year). It also was the only film to have a panel discussion at the festival as well as anchoring the first annual "Cinema and Politics Day" at Cannes.

Here are the pictures

and here is an article about the film

It will hopefully be in theaters between the election and the end of the year unless we get accepted at Sundance.

still largely amazed.

The End Of Poverty? - a Cinema Libre Production

...Dare I say, sex symbol?

I eagerly await the New York premiere - no doubt it is as fascinating as the man himself.

Congratulations! That's amazing, to be able to say your film based on your idea screened at Cannes. Especially what sounds like a smart documentary. Way to go!

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It is a smart film. But also a sobering, infuriating gut punch as well. I was glad in the review it was called "An 'Inconvenient Truth' for global economics"...that was always my hope for its frame.

Hopefully when it premiers in theaters in NY you will all go see it twice. everyday. bringing a new friend with you each time.

Rarely do you get a chance to do your art and make a difference in the world, I am truly happy for you Matt.
Congrats!!

That being said,
I'm sure we all agree we are making the world better with long form improvisation.
