PHIT's Spring 2010 House Team Auditions

PHIT

Philly's Longform Improv
#1
PHIT will be holding open-call auditions for our House Teams on April 18th, 2010 from 11am-5pm. Auditions will be held at The Actors Center, 257 N. 3rd Street, Philadelphia, PA 19106.

CALLBACKS will be held during the day on Saturday, April 24, and the evenings of*Sunday, April 25, Monday, April 26 (times and locations will vary depending on the group for which you are considered).

Auditioners should have prior improv experience (either in a class or as a performer), auditioners who have taken classes at PHIT will not be given preference over those who have studied elsewhere, although we will have had more time to see you perform which may help.

You must be available for the audition times to be considered. No other audition times are available.

On the day of the audition...
Auditioners will be seen every 30 minutes in groups of 6-8. Auditioners do not need to prepare anything in advance. The audition will be entirely improvised. You will be asked to participate in a few short group exercises and will then perform two short scenes.

Auditioners should wear comfortable clothes and shoes. Resumes are not required but will gladly be accepted. Please bring a headshot with you. If you don't have headshots, a recent snapshot will suffice.

PLEASE ARRIVE AT LEAST TEN MINUTES PRIOR TO YOUR SCHEDULED AUDITION TIME. There will be a short questionnaire for you to complete prior to your scheduled audition time.

HOW TO SIGN UP FOR AN AUDITION:
Sign-ups begin immediately. To secure an audition time please email your name, phone number, and a preferred time (if any) to:
contact@phillyimprovtheater.com

You will receive a confirmation message within 24 hours. We will accept sign-ups until no audition times remain. All specific audition times are first-come-first-served. You must sign-up before 11:59pm on Thursday, April 15.

There are no alternate times. If you are not available for these audition dates and times, please do not email or call to ask for an exception - you simply will not be able to audition. If you are interested in auditioning, you must sign-up for one of our announced timeslots.

I just wanted to post here in case anyone who was at auditions checked the boards - thanks to everyone who came out. When I got up this morning I was sorta worried about how things would go and not sure that my frame of mind was right for watching improv for 6 hours straight...

I was wrong. The quality of this round's auditioners made them a ton of fun and made me very excited about what's coming soon for the city. I thought I saw two new teams full of performers, but some of those folks will have to wait for our Fringe projects.

Thanks, seriously, improv people for making my day a blast.

Notwithstanding any bounced email issues, all auditioners should have been notified about their callback status of of now. If you auditioned and do not receive an email from the theater by the end of the day Tuesday, PLEASE CONTACT US.

Call backs will be taking place - depending on the ensemble you are being seen for -this coming Sunday and Monday (check your email for details on locations for your call back).

Thanks again to everyone who came out. There were many more qualified folks than spaces in the call back pool. On the one hand we are sad to have to turn so many people away (and wish we'd had a second director waiting in the wings), but on the other hand this makes us very excited about our Fringe project auditions in mid-summer. Hopefully, if you didn't make it this round you will come out again in a few months!
