Ok, so this is a little early, but I had to put up with seeing the Zach Attack this weekend and it mades me want to be in Carrboro sitting by the pool in February, talking emotional integrity in scenes with Joe Bill. Who’s going? Or hoping to?

So for NCCAF virgins like me, we accept and pay the $85, and then Zach will give us a time slot sometime between Thursday 2/12 and Saturday 2/14. Is that correct?

You accept, pay the fee (that's per person... add it up - the sign-in account system walks you through it to Paypal) that's $XX per person if you're taking workshops and $YY if you're not.
Then they'll assign timeslots.

i didn't have too much trouble without a car. it can be done. the shuttle does a pretty good job. i would just famliarize yourself with how it works the first day you get there (i don't know if it changes from year to year or not) so that you are not caught out or surprised.

there are also people who have vehicles that are usually pretty accommodating. i say be mindful though, and willing to kick them money for gas, or do whatever else you can to let them know how thankful you are that they were willing to help you out.

I second Kristen's tip - ask for help, but be willing to chip in for gas or rental car money. Last year the hotel wasn't too far from the venues (maybe too far to walk though), and the venues were all within walking distance from each other.
