I am planning on driving up Friday afternoon for DCM. Does anyone have advice on parking near UCB? Will I be able to find street parking, or should I park in a garage?

Thank you!

You can't park in the city till after 6 at the earliest. If you can wait till after 7 there's parking everywhere, even right in front of UCB. The closest parking after 6pm is on 23rd street. Of course you have to move it on Saturday Morning, unless it's a Mon-Fri parking sign.

Actually there is alternate side of the street parking around the theatre, north, south and to the west. So you do have a chance of finding a spot on Friday before the marathon. I believe they clean one side of the street from 11-1pm or something like that, so at 1pm some stuff will open up. Don' quote me on the times that street cleaning are, the times could be different. But shit is available.

I found a spot by the theatre this morning.

If you have a bit of expendable time to circle around Chelsea there are spots to be found. Focus on 19th - 22d Streets between 8th & 10th ave and you should find something. Those spots are good all weekend. I've done the search many times and usually bag a spot within 15 minutes or so but have gotten shut out after a 40 minute search on a rare bad day.

If you wait until 6 pm you are guaranteed a spot on 25th Street between 7th & 8th Ave and immediate areas.

for anyone parking near the theater DO NOT, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LEAVE ANYTHING IN YOUR CAR VISIBLE THAT LOOKS STEALABLE..... sounds simple, but last year at DCM fri nite/sat morning round 3, my buddy left a crappy little bag in his back seat, somebody (ies?) busted the window stole it, then took my bag out of the trunk.....i mean don't leave ANYTHING That looks like it could be of ANY value out......especially if you are in the 20s near 9th ave...there are some low income housing and some shady characters hanging round them parts..caution!
