can someone organized and capable try to make sense of this very vague idea I just had and then steal it and promote as your own. thanks:

Every friggin week I promise about five comedy related friends that I'll go see their damn show- and i'm lucky if I make it out to 1. Everyone and their mother hosts a variety show or an improv show these days. Can we make a festival of it? and coordiante show times at all the different venues so we all get a chance to see everyone's space? very half-assed I know- but if you're not brain dead- please roll with it.

Why I love the IRC- Seriously

In betraying the confidence of "private" messaging- I am posting a PM from Sean Taylor- he speak good- sound smart:

I would suggest the best way to go about it is this...
1. Request the venues post the showtimes on this thread by a certain set time (if they haven't by the set time, then they have to be excluded)
2. Pick a week where this festival would be ideal (this is where you being the organizer will get to dictate the best week for you personally)
3. Determine which showtimes overlap and put the organizers in touch with each other to adjust showtimes for the particular week
4. Once adjusted showtimes have been decided upon, have them (notice the burden is usually on 'them') contact you with the adjusted showtimes and a description of their show
5. Compile the list of the involved shows into an itenerary (or program) and slap your name for the festival right on top (something like 'The Rosie Parade')
6. Advertise like hell

Have fun!
-Sean

I don't like the "Rosie Parade" idea. but I like your smarty pants organizedness. I just want one week to see all my friend's shit around town- and I want everyone to get involved and go to each others shows.

why don't all interested parties post thier ideas here- If I didn't mention your show- it's cause I dont' like you. KIDDING! jeez- you know who you are.
when would be the best week for everyone? wouldn't it have to be after the holidays? blah blah blah post post post.

*thanks to Guilia and Jon too! :)

This sounds like a lot of fun. By nature, I avoid that. But this one time, I am willing to see if Ash Wednesday can get in on the goods.

Hooray for you guys!
Yes- let's plan a meeting for after Thanksgiving. How about Sat. Dec. 4th? At a super convenient time somewhere in the afternoon/evening like 4-6pm? burgers, malteds, and variety show scheudling hell. yay!

For real, Saturday Dec 4- 4pm.

Where at?

Can we get an email list going for a core crew to work on this?
PM your email addresses to Rosie? or me?
Rosie, want to collect info? or I can take on that task...

I say get a nice group of 4-8 peeps to start planning, you don't want too many cooks in the kitchen. But I do want lots of people at my one woman show "Stupid Foreigners" Nov 22 at the UCB, 9:30pm :)

i'm a yes-ander for this but underneath it all i wish this wasn't neccesary and people would just open themselves more to seeing other people's shows instead of being so wrapped up in their own worlds.

Chris, I am sure we all agree with you there, but part of the point of this event is to coordinate all of the shows so that you can run from one to the other without missing any of the shows rather having two shows running simultaneously so you have to choose between them. Make sense? And hopefully by turning it into an event it gives all of us who work hard on these shows some exposure and opportunities to see each others stuff when we normally wouldn't be able to....
That said, Rosie, you know I am down for this!
