I remember reading (years ago) that Cathy Moriarty opened a chain of pizza places in L.A. and that she has everything shipped from NYC. Even the water they use to make the dough!

But a Californian will have to back me up on that.

Yeah, Mulberry Street in Beverly Hills. Their white pizza is amazing, and the DeNiro posters everywhere add a certain much-needed Mob ambience.

Pizza in LA!

I moved from LA to NY last year and nothing beats east coast pizza but if you need some go to:

Hard Times on Los Feliz Blvd ( only yummy place where you can actually get a slice!)

Nicky D's Wood-Fried Pizza 2764 Rowena Avenue -1/2 Block West of Glendale (The guy is from NY)

Village Pizzeria in Larchmont Village -Near LaBrea & Third ( thin crust, good)

And for something different Wild Flour on Main Street in Santa Monica has whole wheat crust and you can sit outside and drink cheap wine.

Look on the bright side, you will be enjoying the best Mexican Food!

Enjoy LA!

Well, I prefer Chicago pizza, but for ordering in, I've found Raffalo's is good.
People seem to like Papa John's.
And I've heard people talk about Hard Times, as well. I've never been there though.

Even so, you're not going to be pleased so you might as well resign yourself.

Yup, great Chinese and Mexican food is what you'll find plenty of, though. Oh, and Etheopian food.

the only thing in LA I've found close to this is BJ's in Burbank, let me know if you know of anything else. I'd just assume make a DiGiorno deep dish than eat stuff like Papa Johns

Seriously, Mexican Food...

LOTERIA in the 3rd & Fairfax Farmer's Market is unbelievable, as is the French Crepe Co. next door. God I miss LA food.

village

it's already been mentioned, but allow me to reiterate support for
Village Pizzeria on Larchmont.
It's run by a guy from Queens name of Steve Cohen. It's great -- thin crust, fresh toppings. They deliver through out most of Hollywood and Hancock Park, but it's totally worth just going there and sitting.

and yeah, after that, it's all good Mexican.

Is that the place on Fairfax? Because I've heard great things about that place too.
And Albano's, really? Because that's not far from me. Might be worth a walk over to check it out.

See, I don't care for "NY style" pizza mainly because of how it's cut and stuff like that. Too hard to eat.
Honestly I don't think there is any TASTE difference between thin crust Chicago and thin crust NY. Don't hit me.
My pizza preferences tend towards crispy thin crust, I like to see/taste the SAUCE (they skimp on sauce here) and I like garlic on my pizza, but it has to be on top, not buried in under the cheese. And I like to order in. I rarely GO to pizza places. Like never.
So, given all these things, I'VE found Raffalo's, the one on La Brea and Hollywood anyway, is okay. But now I'm gonna try Village Pizeria on Larchmont and Albano's on Melrose! Does Albano's deliver?

Albanos does deliver.......they also have very thin crust......it doesn't taste like traditional NY pizza but it's really good.

So late to this thread, but thought I'd throw a hat into the ring for Abbot Kinney Pizza if you're ever down in Venice - which I realize is unlikely, but hey, you never know.
