New improv group - advice for first non-student show?

#9
Don't make it the litmus test for how you are as performers, both individually and as a group. Don't put too much pressure on yourselves to make it the best show ever.

When is the show? Or, alternatively, how did it go?

For first shows or any show, when you walk of the stage, leave it there. Don't kick yourself for moves you missed. Becky Drysdale said, or I'm twisting a quote from her, that NY is the only place where an improviser can walk of stage and fell like crap because they put so much pressure on themselves instead of just playing to have fun.

Have fun, and leave it there behind you as you walk off stage. There will be plenty of time to kick yourself later.

Make eye contact, and love every move anyone makes.

We did so many things wrong and I was ready to beat myself up over it, but the audience really liked it so I'd say it actually went well.

Thanks for the advice everyone it helped.

The best thing about mistakes in improv is that they aren't really mistakes. They're opportunities. For fun, for learning, for ending up in a place you didn't expect, those mistakes are all opportunities.
